Tributaries’ Revamps Series 8 Bi-Wire
Orlando, FL—August 2013—Tributaries® is pleased to announce the newly improved Series 8 BiWire cable, SP8BW, for high-performance bi-wire speaker systems. Handmade in the company’s
facility in Orlando, Florida, the SP8BW now boasts a unique conductor configuration engineered by
Jay Victor, exclusively for Tributaries. The Series 8 Bi-Wire cable will be on display during CEDIA
Expo 2013 in booth #2321.
Mr. Victor selected Long Crystal Copper (LC-OFC) Conductors for Series 8 Bi-Wire as they provide
better clarity and lower distortion. Each 14AWG conductor is designed with three separate wire
gauges to support better bass, midrange and high-frequency signals. By insulating the different wire
gauges, strand interaction is eliminated further reducing distortion. To complete the design, Mr.
Victor employed his propriety optimized cable geometry, alternating twists that create a perfect
balanced cable, resulting in a lower noise floor providing greater sonic detail.
The Series 8 bi-wire maintains its previous Star-Quad configuration, consisting of four equal
conductors wound together in a positive, negative alternating pattern. This configuration cancels
opposing electromagnetic fields generated by each conductor pair. This design improves the
system’s performance by preventing EMI noise from entering and distorting the signal.
The 14AWG SP8BW is designed for Bi-Wire applications up to 80 feet or by combining the black and
red pairs the SP8BW can be used as a Stereo speaker cable with 11AWG conductors appropriate for
lengths up to 120 feet. The cable is wrapped in a layer of tissue paper under the jacket to increase
flexibility, while underneath the grey and black mesh finish is a highly flexible black PVC UL® CL2
rated jacket for in-wall installation.
The Series 8 Bi-Wire cable is available in choice of two types of pre-terminated cables, the 8BW, a
2>4 configuration and the 8SP, a standard 2>2, both finished with attractive boots and terminated in
choice of double locking banana plugs or spade lugs. Tributaries’ offers all parts separately for
dealers who prefer to make their own cables.
