Lab 1 Get familiar with ERDAS Imagine
Important note: For all the labs, please work on D: drive, rather on C. C is used for system
files only.
The purpose of this lab is your let you get familiar with ERDAS Imagine basic operations to be
used in the following image interpretation and processing labs.
You use Chapter 1 of ‘ERDAS Imagine Tour Guide’. To access the document, first run ERDAS
Imagine. The access it from Help/Imagine online documentation/Navigation pane/Digital
hardcopy documentation/ERDAS Imagine Tour Guides.
If you want to be a remote sensing guru and would like to explore more about the
techniques and concepts by yourself, you might go over the whole manual.
For understanding of concepts and theories behind the software functions, you can read
“ERDAS Field Guide” which is on the same page: Help/Imagine online
documentation/Navigation pane/Digital hardcopy documentation.
If you want to print it out, since the whole guide manual has hundreds of pages, so make
sure to print only this chapter only by giving page range in the printing option window so
that it won’t waster printer resources and paper.
The whole chapter is too long to finish in one lab session. You are encouraged to finish
the whole chapter. If you cannot, first finish the following sections:
