Adaptive Ski-ing
Disability Snowsport UK (DSUK) are able to provide adaptive ski lessons and equipment
to people with disabilities.
PAMIS have had several successful sessions with DSUK at Xscape at Braehead. The
facility at Xscape provides the opportunity for skiers to experience ski-ing on real snow.
There is a large disabled changing room/toilet within the Sno!zone area at Xscape, but
there is currently no changing bench or hoist.
There is a mobile hoist available for use to allow skiers to transfer from wheelchair to ski
equipment, but users must bring their own sling.
Cost per hour for 1:1 instruction at Xscape: £40 (plus £2.50 for non-DSUK members).
It may be possible for the hour to be shared to allow two skiers half an hour each – you
should contact DSUK to negotiate this.
DSUK are also able to provide adaptive ski lessons at Bellahouston Ski Centre and at
Bearsden (both dry ski slopes) on request.
