Nestled beside the Cathedral is what is best described as Nelson's superior retreat; three sophisticated
and exclusive serviced apartments. Imbued with history, they offer privacy with views over the lush
cathedral grounds and up towards the Maitai Valley. Professionally designed and restyled, these one
and two bedroom apartments have opulently appointed facilities. Each has its own private terrace.
They are two minustes walk to top restaurants, cafes and boutique shopping. The nelson School of
Music is barely a stone's throw away. Consulate Apartments offer something less ordinary, less
expected but definitely more exclusive.
Consulate Apartments has a unique part in Nelson's history. Originally built as a two-storeyed wooden
villa in 1900's. From the 1940's, it was owned by Guilliamo (Bill) Monopoli who was appointed the
official Italian Consul. The villa was remodelled with a European influence and became the offical
Italian Consulate. He was also president of the Italian Club for 30 years. Bill, originally an orchardist
was an interesting character who loved gardening, fishing and dabbled in a little wine making. He told
the story to his family of treasure buried in the basement, but for all the searching nothing but tall tales
have emerged!

Our B&B is situated in a quiet cul de sac just a short walk from the shores of Lake Wanaka and the
shops and restaurants of Wanaka town. Just across the road from Hedditch St is the 18th hole Wanaka
Golf Course and local icon, the Cinema Paradiso. At the back of the garden is the Proactive Gym with
it’s fully equipped weights room and variety of exercise classes.
The two guest rooms look out towards the Criffel Range and are equipped with king and queen sized
beds, TVs and tea /coffee facilities. Guests can enjoy a complimentary glass of wine sitting outside on
the deck with it’s views of Mt Roy and Mt Alpha to the west, and Mt Iron to the east. Or perhaps relax in
the lounge area with a variety of reading material or a game of backgammon.

Ocean Wave Tours travels along great volcanic coastline and journeys through hidden blowholes.
Exploring Te Whanganui A Hei Marine Reserve and some of its islands. Then journeying further south
along the coast to the equisite hidden blowhole approximately 40 meters high by 30 meters across with
its concealed entrance. Visitors then venture around Champagne Rock and its rocky outcrops then
experience the majestic Orua Cave. Being up close and intimate with nature - visiting Cathedral Cove,
Sea caves and dolphin/orca spotting. Viewing volcanic blowholes, coastal seabirds, penguins,
Coromandel cave crabs and much more. 20 nautical miles of awesome coastline.
Our choice of boats was to give people: quick travel, the best viewing platform, accessibility to places
inaccessible to other boats and to share those special places you only dream of. Part of our vision was
to supply a scenic tour that is more than a tourists expectations.
Part of our product is the personal approach of our talented skippers and crew. The skippers enjoy
sharing their knowledge of the beautiful Mercury Bay including historical, cultural, geological,
educational, wildlife and personal storytelling of the area.
