Ancient Civilizations Project Instructions: Step 1- Selection Select and research one of the “Ancient Civilizations” or “Great Civilizations” with your group members. Group members will include 3-4 people. Your group will present a 15-30 minute presentation on the “Ancient Civilization” they researched to the class. Civilization Selection: Mesopotamia Egypt India China Greece Rome Incas Mayans Aztecs The Middle Ages-Feudalism The Renaissance Step 2: Power Point Presentation As a part of your presentation to the class your team will create a Power Point Presentation Document. The Power Point Document should include the following information on your “Ancient Civilization”. Instructions for the Power Point Presentation: 1. Slide 1- Title Slide: The Title Slide should include the name of the “Ancient Civilization” you have selected, your Team Members Names, Core, and an appropriate, colorful picture related to your “Ancient Civilization”. 2. Slide 2-Map: A Map of the world showing the Location of the “Ancient Civilization” your team has researched. 3. Slide 3-TimeLine: A Timeline should be included of the beginning and ending of your “Ancient Civilization”. 4. Slide Presentation: Unlimited Slides The slide presentation should address all of the Cultural Universals or aspects for your “Ancient Civilization”. Develop as many slides as you need to address these universals or aspects. You may include any pictures and images that would demonstrate the information in your presentation. The Power Point Document should include the following Cultural Universals or aspects of your “Ancient Civilization”: Geography- include map of area Time Period- Timeline Government Economy Religions Education Writing Arts & Architecture Technology Origin & Contributions Rise & Fall Slavery Step 3: Presentation Materials: As a part of the Presentation to the class your team will create and distribute any handouts, outlines, or graphic information that illustrates the Cultural Universals or aspects of your “Ancient Civilization”. The aspects are listed in Step 2. Step 4: Presentation Project Board or Poster Board: Your team will create a project board or poster board including all the aspects of your “Ancient Civilization”. This will be a part of your classroom presentation. Step 5: Historical Artifact Your team will create a three-dimensional model of an object that represents the “Ancient Civilization” that your team selected. This could be a model of a building or structures, a tool, or weapon, an article of clothing, something used in everyday life, something in a religious ceremony-there are unlimited possibilities. Step 6: The Presentation: All teams will present a 15-30 minute presentation of the “Ancient Civilization” they researched. The guidelines are as follows: Presentation Guidelines: 1. Everyone on the team must speak during the Presentation. 2. Everyone must stand and speak loudly. 3. Everyone must listen to one another and help each other during the presentation. 4. Be respectful when other group members are presenting. 5. Everyone must make sure that all of the information has been covered. 6. All groups will be evaluated by the class. 7. All students will receive a listening sheet that will need to be completed during the presentation. Assessment: A rubric will be provided for the groups to do a selfevaluation. The class will also be provided with a rubric to evaluate each group as they present the information about the “Ancient Civilization” they are presenting. Due Date: Monday: March 25 Presentations will begin on March 25, 2013. Students will sign up for a presentation time for their teams.
