Evolve, a Cincinnati Bell Company, launches “Recycling Make Cents”
Effort encourages businesses to recycle e-waste, rewards green-thinking companies
Louisville – 2010 – Evolve, a Cincinnati Bell Company (NYSE: CBB), is rewarding
environmentally-conscious businesses in the Louisville market by kicking off the
“Recycling Makes Cents” campaign, an initiative to help local businesses modernize
their voice and data systems while greening their offices and the environment.
According to a 2008 EPA report, more than 140 million phones are disposed of each
year. Though Americans throw away some 30 million tons of electronic waste each year,
less than 10% of this amount is recycled. Evolve hopes to encourage responsible
disposal of e-waste through the “Recycling Makes Cents” promotion. New customers will
receive a credit toward the purchase of an upgraded phone system upon turning in their
old phones, with a value of up to $5,000. The phones will then be collected and sent to
technology recycling company 2TRG to then be salvaged, refurbished or recycled in an
environmentally friendly manner.
“The benefits are greater than simply recycling an old phone,” says Joe Reichert,
Director of Sales. “Evolve’s products make telecommuting easier for businesses, and
that means the waste of in-person meetings is reduced. Companies save gas,
emissions, paper and money.”
To continue their commitment to greening Louisville and carrying out environmentally
responsible business practices, Evolve will be partnering with a local green organization
for a future project. Details will be announced shortly.
