More than $300 was raised from our raffle, which will be used toward expenses for an End-Of-The-Year Beach Party for all faculty and staff and their families. All winning haikus will be collected and published next year as an anthology titled Haiku By World Children. ● The mission of Simon A. Perez Principal The theme of the 12th contest is “FESTIVALS.” Festivals form an integral part of our lives, and are held in many ways, on various occasions. They could be humble or grandiose, ritual or festive. Festivals embody the spirit of mankind, purify our souls and remind us what we're thankful for. How are festivals seen in the eyes of children? How do they express festivals of their country or region in their drawings and poetry? We look forward to receiving haikus and works depicting festivals from children around the world! Qualifications: - Age 15 and under/Elementary or junior high school student - One haiku entry per child - Must be unpublished original work, either handwritten or typed. - Haiku may be written on the artwork or on a separate piece of paper accompanying the art - ARTWORK: Hand-drawn/hand-crafted original artwork by the child Any form (water/oil-colored, black&white, wood-cut print, lithograph, paper cutwork, etc) Use A4 sized (210mm x 297mm) paper or larger(US region : letter-sized or larger) No photographs and digital images accepted. - Please attach application form to the back of submitted work; can be picked up from the main office or printed from the website: http://www.jal-foundation.or.jp/new/haiku/contest/12th.html - Name, sex, age, address and contact information is required upon submission. One dollar per guess. 1st Prize -mp3 player, 2nd Prize- Jelly bean jar and 3rd Prize-Nursing Club T Shirt. Submit your guess in Rm. 401. Winner will be announced Jan 31st. FYI: We are in danger of losing our I-Recycle bin to another school if we do not demonstrate that we deserve to have it. We should fill the bin with empty cans by the end of the semester for an I-Recycle pick-up. Please have your student clubs and organizations collect cans, keep track of the poundage, and place them in the bin. You can, of course, donate your own cans to our cause to "Go Green." Thank you so much for your cooperation. The SSHS Showcase is February 11, 2012 from 10:00 am to 3:00 pm at the Micronesia Mall. In the past, we’ve operated on the talents of 8-10 teachers. Let’s all try to get involved this year. It’s for the students and our school! Tutoring is available for all GCC College Access Grant students on Monday and Thursday from 11:30 - 1:00 pm in Room 117B in the library.
