110 TOWER NAMED “RENOVATED BUILDING OF THE YEAR” AT
BOMA’S 2013 SOUTHERN REGIONAL TOBY AWARDS AND
ADVANCES TO INTERNATIONAL COMPETITION
(APRIL XX, 2013 – FORT LAUDERDALE, FLA.) – Transwestern’s Fort Lauderdale office today
announced that the Building Owners and Managers Association (BOMA) named 110 Tower as the 2013
“Renovated Building of the Year” at The Outstanding Building of the Year (TOBY) Southern Regional
Awards. 110 Tower is a Class A, LEED® (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) Gold certified
office building located in Fort Lauderdale’s Central Business District.
The TOBY Awards program is one of the most prestigious and comprehensive programs of its kind in the
commercial real estate industry, recognizing quality in buildings and rewarding excellence in building
management. After winning the local competition for BOMA Fort Lauderdale/Palm Beaches last year, 110
Tower advanced to the regional level, where it was pitted against buildings across nine states in the
Southern Region. During the competition, all facets of 110 Tower’s operations were thoroughly evaluated,
from community involvement and site management to environmental policies and procedures. Ellen
Rivera, general manager for 110 Tower, accepted the award on behalf of Transwestern, the exclusive
provider of property management and leasing services.

110 Tower took part in a thorough review including inspections of both public and non‐public areas of the
buildings during the local level of the competition. The review process also included interviews with the
tenants and the property management team, which was evaluated in categories such as emergency
preparedness, energy management, building security and community impact.

At the competition’s regional level, more than 50 judges from the industry scored each building’s
credentials in these important areas. The 2013 TOBY award winners were announced at a ceremony on
April 13, 2013 at The Renaissance Vinoy in downtown St. Petersburg, Fla. 110 Tower is now eligible to
advance to the international BOMA competition.
“The renovated category has one of the most meticulous entry requirements,” said Melanie Schrul,
executive director of BOMA Fort Lauderdale/Palm Beaches. “110 Tower continues to exceed our
expectations, and we are honored it will represent our Chapter at the international competition.”
110 Tower is completing a comprehensive $15 million renovation program that includes upgrades to the
lobby, upper-floor common areas and other interior spaces; addition of new ground-floor retail;,
replacement and improvement of all primary mechanical systems; and installation of a unique exterior
lighting system.
110 Tower has built a reputation of pioneering efforts in energy efficiency within Fort Lauderdale’s
downtown district. The property was the first option for tenants seeking a LEED Gold certified building
within a multi-tenant, high-rise office tower in downtown Fort Lauderdale. The building subsequently
received the U.S. Green Building Council of South Florida’s coveted GalaVerde Award as “Florida’s Best
in LEED for Existing Buildings.”
Located in the heart of downtown Fort Lauderdale directly across from the Broward County Courthouse,
this iconic tower constructed in 1988 provides a combination of upscale office space, easy access and
stunning views. The building’s tenants have access to many new and existing amenities, which currently
