43rd Annual Symposium European Association for Aquatic Mammals 24th – 26th of March, 2015 CALL FOR PAPERS The European Association for Aquatic Mammals invites authors to submit abstracts for oral, poster and short talk presentations for its upcoming 43rd Annual Symposium, which is due to take place in Kolmårdens Wildlife Park, Sweden, from 24th – 26th of March, 2015. All topics related to marine mammal science and husbandry (including conservation, education, veterinary medicine, operant conditioning, et cetera) are acceptable. For the 43rd Annual Symposium, the EAAM will especially encourage presentations dedicated to “North Atlantic/ temperate seas” and “Marine mammals in a changing climate”. IMPORTANT DEADLINES: Abstract Submission Deadline: 8th of December 2014 Pre-registration for the first author: 15th of January 2015. INSTRUCTIONS FOR STUDENTS: Students are particularly encouraged to submit presentations. Students are eligible for the Prize for best student presentation (Oral and Poster) and for the EAAM student Grant for Symposium participation – which includes symposium fee and a contribution to housing costs during the Symposium. You will be considered for the above awards, only if your submission be accompanied by a support letter from your University or Professor. PHD students are candidates for EAAM Student Grants and Prizes only if accompanied by a declaration that a PhD grant is the only subsistence source or only marine mammal related activity. Please refer to the Student guidelines at the EAAM website Special Remarks: INSTRUCTIONS FOR AUTHORS Please read the following recommendations carefully before submitting any abstract: The abstract must include: -Title; - Author(s); if more than one, please mark presenter with an asterisk (*); - Affiliation of (each) author; - Summary of presentation; - The abstract should be complete and informative (objectives, methods, results, conclusions); - The text should have a maximum length of 200 words (font Arial, size 11); - Line drawings, figures, graphs, charts, et cetera, should not be included; - Author(s) wishing to present more than one abstract must submit separate submission forms; - Abstract(s) submitted by students should be reviewed beforehand by their supervisor(s). - The Scientific Committee reserves itself the right to accept or decline each presentation and may ask author(s) to adjust the presentation(s) and/or their format (ex: from oral to poster presentation or vice versa). - The Scientific Committee only accepts electronic abstract submission. - Oral presentations: The allowed presentation time will be 15 minutes, plus 5 minutes for discussion. - Posters: Poster size is A0 vertical (115.0 cm high x 83.0 cm wide). - Short Talks: Will be of a maximum of 5 minute duration. The presenter will be notified when one minute is left. - Presenting authors must be registered for the symposium no later than 15th of January 2015.
