HI-FI PROJECT
ANNOTATED BIBLIOGRAPHY,
OBITUARY/PROFILE & QUIZ,
BIOGRAPHY BOARD
WORLD HISTORY
I. ANNOTATED BIBLIOGRAPHY A. Students must thoroughly research their historical figure to gather enough
specific and detailed information to perform a thoughtful presentation.
This means accessing information on the subject from a variety of sources.
B. Proof of research must be provided in the form of an annotated bibliography
which is typed, single-spaced and includes for each source of information
the following:
1) a source listing constructed in MLA format.
2) a well-written 1-2 paragraph summary describing first, what kind
of information was included in the source; and, second, in which
specific parts of your project this information was included.
C. The annotated bibliography must include no less than FIVE sources of
information.
II. OBITUARY/PROFILE A. The Obituary/Profile must be typed, double-spaced on one side of a single piece
of paper (12-pt. font, one-inch margins). This will be approximately 250 words.
B. To save space, type only your name in the upper left-hand corner. A title
should be centered at the top of the page in the following format:
Obituary: Adolf Hitler
or if your person is still alive your title should be:
Profile: Wayne Gretzky
C. The Obituary/Profile must be organized into four paragraphs, one representing
each of the first four parts of your presentation (Introduction, Biographical
Sketch, "One Big Thing", Historical Significance). EMPHASIS SHOULD
BE ON PARTS THREE AND FOUR. To save space, you need not include
a concluding paragraph.
D. For each of your four paragraphs, try to avoid trivial details and focus on the
most important information from each section.
E. Since you will be passing your obituary/profile out to the rest of the class to use
as a study guide for the final exam, it should represent your absolute best
writing. No errors in grammar, punctuation, spelling, or typing are
acceptable.
III. QUIZ QUESTIONS A. To accompany your Obituary/Profile, you need to create three quiz questions of
the multiple choice variety with four possible answers for each question (a, b, c,
d). True/false, yes/no, and short answer type questions are NOT acceptable.
B. Your quiz questions must be neatly typed on a separate sheet of paper from
your Obituary/Profile.
C. Questions should focus on the three most important facts from your Obituary/
Profile. One should ask about your HI/FI’s “One Big Thing,” another should ask
about his/her historical significance. Do NOT ask about dates, statistics or any
other trivial information.
D. Questions should be easily answerable by a person of average intelligence who
has just read your Obituary/Profile. Do NOT provide the answers to the
questions anywhere on your paper.
IV. BIOGRAPHY BOARD
A. You must create an 11x14 inch illustration board on which you artistically represent
your historical figure's life and times. This Biography Board must be creatively
arranged and must include the following items:
1) Name of the person; prominently displayed and spelled correctly.
2) At least three pictures representative of the person's life; each with
a caption explaining what it is.
3) A paragraph about the person, their most notable accomplishment,
and their historical significance.
4) A timeline showing the major events of the person's life on one side
and the major events that took place in world history during the
period that they lived on the other.
B. After your presentation, your biography board will be displayed in the classroom
to represent your historical figure and help other students study for the final.
