FBI FIREARMS INSTRUCTOR COURSE ANDALUSIA, ALABAMA SEPTEMBER 15 – 19 & 22 – 26, 2014 The Mobile Office of the Federal Bureau of Investigation, in conjunction with the APOSTC Law Enforcement Academy Baldwin County and the Andalusia Police Department, is conducting an 80-hour FBI Firearms Instructor Course. This course will be held September 15 - 19 & September 22 – 26, 2014 beginning at 8:00 a.m. at the Wilbur W. Williams Law Enforcement Training Center, 229 Academy Drive, Andalusia, AL 36420 (Phone: 334-222-1155). The tuition for this class is $100.00 which includes classroom supplies, handouts, CD/DVD, refreshments, instructor shirt, etc. Upon completion of this course each student will be recognized by APOSTC as a qualified firearms instructor. Upon completion of this course, instructors will be able to conduct all of their department’s firearm qualifications including night/low light training, combat training, and shotgun training courses. Requirements for passing this course include: A score of 90% or better on the firing range 85% or better on written exams Acceptable rating on student presentations Students must possess above average shooting skills. This course is NOT designed to teach students to shoot. It is designed to teach them how to teach others to shoot. Pre-Qualification: Pre-Qualification will be conducted on Wednesday, September 3, 2014 @ 1300 at the Wilbur W. Williams Law Enforcement Training Center, Andalusia, AL. All officers wishing to attend the 2-week instructor course MUST attend the Firearms Instructor Pre-Qualification where they will be required to qualify with a score of 90% or better on three different courses with a semiautomatic handgun. There will be no qualification requirements with the revolver; familiarization only Officers need to contact APOSTC Law Enforcement Academy Baldwin County (251-937-1840) as soon as possible to register for this pre-qualification date. Upon registration, officers will be sent copies of the courses to be fired during qualification so the officers may practice the courses prior to their attempt to qualify. FBI will also conduct a ‘Marksmanship Clinic’ beginning at 8:00 a.m. on Thursday, September 4th & Friday, September 5, 2014 for officers needing additional practice for pre-qualification or practice prior to the two-week course. Each student must have a minimum of 150 rounds of semi-automatic ammunition for prequalification. It is highly recommended that students bring more ammunition to prequalification in case the student must re-shoot a course. Equipment needed: .38 or .357 caliber revolver, holster and 200 rounds of ammunition SERVICE WEAPONS ONLY!! Semi-automatic pistol, 9mm or larger, with holster and 1500 rounds of ammunition Department rifle or subgun (if available) with 500 rounds of ammunition Department shotgun (if available) 25 rounds of 12 gauge rifled slugs, and 25 rounds of 00 buckshot Eye and Ear protection (complete ear coverage preferred) Soft body armor Appropriate range wear including ball cap with bill and wet weather gear Flashlight for night firing To reserve a position for this class please contact APOSTC Law Enforcement Academy Baldwin County at 251-937-1840 or register at www.swapa.us.
