Illness Policy
While we understand that each family has individual employment obligations and
demanding schedules, it is of grave importance for A Giants Preschool to operate a safe
and healthy environment for everyone – the children, the families as well as the Teachers.
We have created health guidelines pertaining to sickness and disease that we whole
heartedly expect you to abide by.
*** If your child shows any symptoms of the following he/she MUST be excluded
from childcare:
Fever: Underarm or in the ear a temperature of 100.0 Fahrenheit
Uncontrolled Diarrhea: 3 bowel movements, which are loose and or uncontained
compared to the child’s normal pattern
Vomiting: ANY vomiting unless a doctor’s note is on file due to a medical condition
Unexplained Rash: Any place on the body not including minor diaper rash.
We ask that you exclude your child from our care at the FIRST sign of any of these
symptoms to ensure a healthier environment for everyone. If we see any signs of these
symptoms you will be called to pick up your child. Please keep in mind that the longer you
take to pick up your child the more you are putting other children and teachers at risk. We
ask that you promptly pick your child up after receiving a call from us within the
following 60 minutes.
When can my child return to childcare?
Your child will not be allowed back into childcare until:



Symptoms are gone for at least 24 hours WITHOUT the use of over the counter
medications
Prescribed medication has been given for at least 24 hours
Or with a physician’s note stating that the symptoms are not contagious and your
child may return to school.
If your child becomes infected by a contagious disease please notify us immediately so we
can notify other parents of the symptoms to look for due to possible exposure. By law we
are required to notify other parents of the disease but NOT of who has it and we
will respect the family’s confidentiality.
Medication Policy
Strict Childcare regulations enforced by the State of Maryland, prohibits any provider to
administer medications of any kind unless the parents complete the Permission to
Administer Medication Form for each medication. (even diaper cream)
