Excel to meet the daily reporting

MPS Aqua Marine Products Ltd. was established in 1995. It is a
subsidiary of MPS Group of companies, an agro based and eco
friendly enterprise. MPS Aqua Marine Products Ltd. is engaged in
breeding livestock, dairy farming, pisciculture and has large
expansion plans. With the help of Ontrack Systems Limited, a
Microsoft® Gold Certified Partner, it deployed Microsoft Dynamics
NAV 4.3 to streamline processes and operations; synchronize data;
manage all assets and inventory; and standardize its requisition
management system.

MPS Aqua Marine Products is one of the
subsidiaries of MPS group of companies. It
was started in the year 1995. It is engaged in
breeding of pure livestock, animal husbandry,
dairy farming, pisciculture, poultry rearing
and production of livestock feed. In this
division a dairy was set up and modern
concepts of dairy management were
implemented. It cross-breads different
species of milk producing animals with
excellent results.
In 1994, MPS Group of Companies, an agro
based and eco-friendly enterprise was
established. Its aim was to turn to nature for
infusing new-age state-of-the-art
management skills into age-old practices and
provide maximum befits to the maximum
number of people.
It is an ISO 9001:2000 company. MPS Aqua
Marine has four divisions namely
 Fishery and Pisciculture
 Dairy division
 Livestock and animal husbandry
 Bio gas division
The company is taking innovative steps such
as production of biogas from the cattle
wastes and production of livestock feed. It
has huge expansion plans such as
enhancement of cattle range, production of
biogas resulting in savings in fuel cost;
production of livestock feed on a commercial
basis and other variety of milk products to be
sold in the market.
Prior to implementing Microsoft Dynamics
NAV, MPS Aqua Marine was using a locally
available financial package called Tally 7.2,
Microsoft office Excel spread sheets and
Microsoft Office Word to cater to its day to
day operational requirements. There wasn’t
any database application or any solution
which can take case of the financial
management, inventory or stocks.
As the applications were not integrated, there
was no proper tracking of data and
information for a particular activity and at
times repetitive work needed to be done. The
existing Tally 7.2 was fulfilling the needs of
financial accounting only to a limited extent
and required extensive manual efforts and
extra time.
Since Excel worksheets and Microsoft Word
were being used for data management and
reporting by the accounts team members,
many a times, documents were duplicated.
Additionally, the company was unable to
maintain its Fixed Asset, or generate relevant
and timely sales reports. Tracking projects for
expense management was poor; and there
was a time lag in accounting of invoices.
Furthermore, it was difficult to track various
inventory related activities effectively in Tally.
MPS is expanding and doing business with
countries across the globe and there was no
way to handle accounts and reports on
foreign currencies with fluctuating exchange
rates. Because of all the above irregularities,
it urgently wanted to replace the existing
legacy system with a new, single integrated
business solution. It wanted to have stable
and scalable software keeping in mind their
growing business. The idea was to have a
single integrated ERP solution which can take
care of all the processes and convert MPS
Aqua Marine Products to process oriented
organization.

stored in a central repository which can be

Efficient Fixed Asset Management
Assets can be more efficiently managed post
Dynamics NAV. It provides real-time overview
of the company assets and help in saving
time and money. Earlier, there was no
requisition management system that
standardized requisition form and proper
authorization for purchases. The company
had separate processes for different
activities, but with Dynamics NAV the
purchasing process has been integrated to
avoid mismanagement, duplication and
repetition.
