For the right person, this is an excellent opportunity to work for a small charity which is closely associated with Ripon Cathedral. Purpose of the Job: To support the Development Campaign Manager in the raising of funds for specific Cathedral projects in areas agreed between the Cathedral Chapter and the Trustees. The current focus is on fundraising from events, from membership activities, from individual donations, from legacies and on seeking and obtaining support from appropriate Charitable Trusts and related organisations. The Job Holder ensures that the appropriate support is given to achieving the goals of the Development Campaign. The role will involve some management of volunteers. We are a small team and so working with colleagues will be crucial. Ripon Cathedral Development Campaign Job Description and Person Specification (cont) Tasks: Assist in meeting revenue generating targets for agreed projects in line with the budget set by the Trustees. Take responsibility for the administration of the Campaign through the efficient processing and acknowledgement of donations and the recording of supporters’ details and communications with them. This will involve becoming a highly competent user of the Harlequin database system involving updating records, recording information and donations, producing mail merge letters. Take responsibility for the internal organisation of major fundraising events with a focus on at least four large scale events each year (three of which are currently the Beer Festival, Angel Tree Ball and Christmas Gift and Food Fair). This will include, for example selecting and booking exhibitors, arranging hire of equipment, organising volunteers, managing finances and performing event risk assessments. Attend and contribute to planning and organisation of meetings, prepare agendas and take minutes at event meetings where supported by an organising committee. Work effectively with other members of the Cathedral team to ensure that events run efficiently. Act as membership secretary for Patrons and Music Custodian membership groups. Prepare agendas and minutes for the supporting committees for these Groups. Prepare marketing material for membership events. Assist with the overall administration of the Campaign including preparation of the RCDC Newsletter. Attend and assist at fundraising and membership events.
