Events Fundraiser
Job Title:
Fundraiser/Events Officer (FT)
Reporting to:
Ripon Cathedral Development Campaign Manager
Accountable for:
On occasions you will be required to supervise volunteers in the office and
at fundraising events.
Location:
Ripon Cathedral, North Yorkshire
Salary:
£16,500 to £18,000
Hours:
35 hours per week
Period:
12 month contract initially
Annual leave:
25 days + 8 Bank Holidays

About Ripon Cathedral Development Campaign:
Ripon Cathedral Development Campaign is a separate registered charity raising funds for specific
projects for Ripon Cathedral. The Campaign started in 2001 and has built a professional reputation for
organizing a programme of annual fundraising events including a Beer Festival, the annual Angel
Dinner, Christmas Gift and Food Fair, a Wedding Show and various concerts.
Ripon Cathedral Music Trust
The Music Trust was launched in December 2013 to raise £5m for the Music Trust endowment fund.
The aims of the Music Trust are to secure the future of the music for generations to come, provide
accessible musical training through membership of the Cathedral choir, develop an inclusive outreach
programme to local schools and young people, work in partnership with others who share our
passion for music, build on the Cathedral’s reputation as a centre of musical excellence
Purpose of the Job:
To support the Development Campaign in the raising of funds for specific Cathedral projects in areas
agreed between the Cathedral Chapter and the Trustees. The focus for the Events Fundraiser will be
the organisation, and administration of fundraising events for Ripon Cathedral Development Campaign
and also selected events for Ripon Cathedral Music Trust.
The role will involve some management of volunteers. We are a small team and so working with
colleagues will be crucial.

Tasks:

Take responsibility for the internal organisation of major fundraising events with a focus on at the
large scale annual events each year which are currently the Beer Festival, Angel Tree Dinner
Christmas Gift and Food Fair, Christmas Concert, Summer concert. Take overall charge of the
organisation and delivery of agreed specific events.

Assist the Ripon Cathedral Music Trust with organization of RCMT Fundraising events.

The role will involve becoming a highly competent user of the Harlequin database system
involving updating records, recording information and donations, producing mail merge letters.

Assist in meeting revenue generating targets for agreed fundraising events in line with the
budget.

Select and book exhibitors, arrange hire of equipment, organise and manage volunteers, and
prepare event risk assessments.

Attend and contribute to the planning and the organisation of event meetings, prepare agendas
and take minutes at event meetings where required. Participate in event reviews.

Work effectively with members of the Cathedral team and others to ensure that events run
efficiently.

Attend and assist at RCDC fundraising events and at agreed RCMT events.

Any other duties in support of the Campaign as may reasonably be required by Campaign
management and Trustees.
Person Specification:
Essential
High standard of written English with the ability to produce concise prose

Be accurate when inputting data entry

Be a first class communicator

Be proficient with customer relationship/fundraising management software

Be well motivated and committed to serving the Cathedral

Have experience working with volunteers

Be IT proficient

Be organised in managing workload

Have experience working within a small team

Effective problem solving

Ability to learn new things quickly and retain information

Have demonstrated success at event management & general
administration

