Practice 2-1
Using spelling words 1-7 on your spelling word sheet,
rewrite them showing their syllable division. Write the
open syllables in red and the closed syllables in blue. If
they do not follow the open closed syllable write in
pencil (excite, mistake, suppose = final silent-e syllable).
A dictionary will show you how to syllabicate each of
the words.
EX: de/tect; sup/pose (pose is silent-e syllable so leave
in pencil)
Write 3 sentences using vocabulary words 1
through 3 on your vocabulary word sheet. Each
sentence must be at least 10 words or longer and contain
1 prepositional phrase. Write the prepositional phrase in
red.

rewrite them showing their syllable division. Write the
open syllables in red and the closed syllables in blue. If

pencil (ignore, alcove, meanwhile, creature = final
silent-e syllable) & (creature, meanwhile = vowel team
ea syllable).
EX: mu/sic; creature (crea = vowel team syllable, ture
= silent-e syllable so leave in pencil)
Write 4 sentences using vocabulary words 4
through 7 on your vocabulary word sheet. Each
sentence must be at least 10 words or longer and contain
1 prepositional phrase. Write the prepositional phrase in
red.

Have an adult give you a pre-spelling test. If you
misspell a word or get the wrong syllable type, write that
word and label the syllable types three times each.
Study for Test Friday (spell and label syllable)
Make flashcard (word on one side, definition on the
other side). Use them to study for your test on Friday.
