Bulk Trash Removal
Date:
December 1, 2005
Unit owners are responsible for removing their own:




discarded appliances (stoves, dishwashers, refrigerators, etc.);
debris from remodeling (kitchen cabinets, shelving, molding, carpeting, etc.);
discarded bulk furniture (sofas, bookcases, etc.); and
hazardous materials (paint, thinner, varnish, oil, batteries, computers, etc.).
These costs are not covered by Village I's garbage contract. If you put these items in CVI's
trash rooms or elsewhere on the property, management will tell you to remove the items or will
charge you for a special pickup by Thompson Hauling, our garbage contractor.
If you are paying a contractor to remodel, disposal costs normally are included in the bid. If you
are replacing appliances, the appliance store typically will dispose of discarded appliances for a
fee.
If you are doing the work yourself, please contact a trash hauler. Several are listed under
"Garbage Removal" in the Yellow Pages. Thompson Hauling may be reached at 703-2998880.
The Arlington County hazardous materials program will accept hazardous materials at 3155 S.
Fern Street, at the intersection of South Fern Street and South Glebe Road. It is open each
Saturday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. and during the week by appointment. For more information, call
(703) 228-6832 during normal business hours during weekdays, or visit
