Thesis “Osobennosti perevoda finskoj leksiki po social’nomu obespečeniju na
russkij jazyk i principy ee leksikografičeskogo opisanija” (On the Problems of
Translation of Social Welfare Terminology from Finnish into Russian and the
Principles of its Lexicographical Description).

4. DICTIONARY PROJECTS
19971999 Compiled a Finnish-Russian Social Welfare Glossary (about 1500 terms). The
Glossary was published in 2000 by the Finnish Institute for Russia and Eastern
Europe.
20022006 Took part in the Finnish-Russian Forestry Dictionary project. Role: dictionary
planning, implementation of the terminology management system, practical
terminology work. The dictionary was published in 2008.

20052007 Took part in the Common Language project set up to compile the English-FinnishRussian EU-Russia Project Co-operation Glossary. Role: dictionary planning,
reconfiguration of the terminology management system, practical terminology
work. The glossary was published in 2008.
5. RESEARCH AND DEVELOPMENT PROJECTS
2003
Designed MyTerMS terminology management programme for the Finnish-Russian
Dictionary project. The programme was later adapted for two other dictionary
projects. MyTerMS has been demonstrated at many conferences and language
technology events including the following ones:




Vakki symposium in Vaasa, Finland, 2004.
Translation Technology Event in Savonlinna, Finland, 2005.
Nordterm 2005 in Reykjavik, Iceland.
Pre-EURALEX Dictionary Writing Systems Workshop in Turin, Italy, 2006.
20082011 Senior researcher and project manager in the Content Factory R&D project (2008–
2011) financed by the Finnish Funding Agency for Technology and Innovation
(Tekes) and a number of language industry companies. The goal of the project is to
create a platform and a workflow model for ontology-based collaborative
terminology work.
Main areas of responsibility: Quality Manual for collaborative terminology work
and quality assurance tools for ontology-based collaborative terminology work;
export and import of terminological data; recommendations on the interface
implementation; project management.
2011
Senior researcher and project manager in the CF-PreComm project (2011–2012)
financed by the Finnish Funding Agency for Technology and Innovation (Tekes)
and a number of language industry companies. The goal of the project is to prepare
the results of the ContentFactory project (see above) for commercialization.
Main areas of responsibility: further work on the workflow models for
collaborative terminology work for different types of projects and target groups and
creation of a Workflow Guide for the users; testing and evaluation of the platform
for collaborative terminology work and suggestions for improvement;
implementation and coordination of pilot collaborative terminology projects;
creation of the User’s Manual for the platform; project management.
2011
Researcher and terminologist in the Mobster T&K project (Mobile and Integrated
Dictation and Communication Application for the Health Care Services). The
project was financed by the Finnish Funding Agency for Technology and
Innovation (Tekes) and a number of organizations and companies.
Main areas of responsibility: planning and compilation of the Finnish-EnglishLatin-Russian vocabulary and ontology aimed at providing multilingual support for
the speech recognition application.

Translation Studies in Kouvola.
20012003 Lecturer on several further education courses for translators, interpreters and
terminologists.

Freelance translator of Russian, Finnish and English.

Licensed translator (virallinen kääntäjä) from Finnish into Russian.
8. PUBLICATIONS
Author and co-author of one monograph, three dictionaries, and over 40 articles
and conference papers. A second monograph, Quality Manual of Collaborative
Terminology Work (about 350 pages), is being prepared for publishing.
9. PRESENTATIONS
Delivered over 40 presentations (including two plenary papers) on terminology,
lexicography and translation studies at national and international conferences and
symposia.
10. AWARDS
2008
Doctoral thesis was awarded the Lotte Prize by the Scientific Board of the Russian
Terminological Society RossTerm as a substantial contribution to terminology
science.
2008
Finnish-Russian Forestry Dictionary was awarded the International Award for
Applied Research and Development by the European Association for Terminology
(EAFT).
11. PERSONAL GRANTS
19961997 A nine month grant from CIMO (Finnish Centre for International Mobility) to
support the compilation of the Finnish-Russian Social Welfare Glossary.
1997
A four month continuation grant from CIMO (Finnish Centre for International
Mobility) to support the compilation of the Finnish-Russian Social Welfare
Glossary and related post-graduate studies.
