Outreach Specialist Recidivism (Grant Funded)
Under the direction of the AIM Director the primary responsibility of Outreach Specialist
(Recidivism) will be to assist with the recruitment and retention of minority males for
post secondary education. This position must perform program responsibilities in
accordance with the policies, goals, mission values and objectives established by
Atlanta Technical College. The Specialist will be responsible for carrying out the
guidance and life skills activities associated with adults and youth who have been
referred by the court, living in transitional housing and are transitioning from a minimum
security detention facility within the next 12 months. Additionally he/she will be
responsible for the identification of program participants, monitoring of academic
success, program participation. The program is designed to create opportunities for
personal and professional enrichment for African American males, through educational,
mentoring, leadership training, and conflict resolution initiatives. Atlanta Technical
College Institute for Males (AIM) is seeking an organized, energetic and mission driven
individual, who is dedicated to nurturing and improving the quality of life for minority
men. Under the direction of the Lead Outreach Specialist, the Outreach Specialist will
assist in the development, planning, implementation and evaluation of all Atlanta
Technical College Institute for Males (AIM) activities to a diverse community.
Education: Bachelor's degree in Psychology, Behavioral Science, Social work, STEMS
or related field from an accredited post-secondary institution or a minimum of 3 yrs. In
post -secondary enrollment and implementing retention and graduation strategies.
Experience: Minimum of 3 yrs. experience in case management, program
development, program management and /or mentoring and previous experience
working with a criminally adjudicated adult or youth. Skills/Abilities: Must have
exceptional written and verbal communication skills, as well as be proficient with
PowerPoint, Excel, and Microsoft Word. Excellent interpersonal and teamwork skills.
Ability to work collaboratively. Ability to maintain confidentiality. Ability to work flexible
hours when necessary. Valid GA drivers license
PREFERRED
QUALIFICATIONS:

WORK SCHEDULE:
Must be able to work Monday thru Thursday 10 hrs. daily and two Fridays a month for 4
hours.
Salary is commensurate with education and experience. $30,000 to $35,000
