Lightwave Software Adding Bones or Rigging______ Rigging: this term is used in sailing, the structure or ropes and cables that control the ship. In the 3D world it is the system that enables lifelike objects to come to life by using bones. Skelegons: are special types of polygons designed to help layout the structure of an Object which is used in Layout. Creating Skelegons in Modeler; First load an object such as Fish.lwo, in the background in Modeler, switch to perspective view then tab to the SETUP TAB and click Setup│Skelegons │Create Skelegons. Drag your mouse over the object and place the pointer on a given starting point such as the fin and drag it to the front of the fish’s mouth. Creating Bones from Skelegons: The skelegon has been layed out and know save it and bring it into Layout. (or you can send object to layout from Modeler). Generating bones from Skelegons is straightforward TAB over to SETUP in Layout Click Setup │Add│CVT Skelegons. A message will pop up stating how many bones are going to be converted click yes and your done. Exercises: In Modeler load the fish.Iwo object and create Skelegons as shown in class. Save the object and load it into Layout. Once in layout convert the Skelegons into Bones and try moving the fish.Iwo fin or tail and try to animate the object.
