As Monash has a high Indian speaking population, it would be useful to contact Monash Library for suggestions as to contacts for local Migrant Resource Centres or suppliers. Monday 11 February 2013 Action Sue to advise new Executive Officer for PLVN, Karen Ward-Smith of changes. Sue to contact Brendan Fitzgerald to schedule a presentation. Around the table Group discussion around world movies and which collection libraries house/shelve them in. Most members reported that they interfile their world movies with their English adult DVD collection which allows for browsing of other collections. Some services purchase two copies of a DVD and house one in the relevant language collection and the other in the English adult collection. Melton Celebrated Cultural Diversity Week with bilingual storytime. Darebin Celebrated Cultural Diversity Week with Shanaka Fernando (founder of Lentil as Anything) author talk. Book selection days: Vietnamese selection day, LOTE seconds book sale. Whitehorse Manningham Celebrated Cultural Diversity Week with a community Chinese material selection day with Books, Music, Video. Chinese books and eBooks were purchased. Possibility of commencing a Chinese book club/discussion group. Maribyrnong Lion dance, martial arts demonstration. Multicultural day celebrated with food, performers. Casey Cardinia Chinese book selection event in the library with Books, Music, Video. Reported back on talk, Rev. Justus Miwanda. Celebrated International Mother Language Day 21 February. Indigenous storytime with Yarn Strong Sista. Yarra Plenty Linda presented brochure with numerous Cultural Diversity Week (CDW) events scheduled across the service to help celebrate both CDW and Harmony Day. English conversation classes, mainly Chinese attendance. Expo of language collections across the service. Melbourne Lion dance, Chinese bilingual storytime, new book day – Chinese. Dockland Library to be complete by end of December 2013, Carlton Library to be complete by 2014. New Chinese and Hindu magazines now available from CAVAL, two new afghan magazines now available from George Olympic books. Moonee Valley Celebrated Cultural Diversity Week with bilingual storytime. English conversation classes hosted across the service in partnership with Farnham Street Neighbourhood Learning Centre. Qualified ESL teachers conducting classes with great attendance. 7.
