PROPOSED EXTENSION TO BSS WAREHOUSE Members noted the architect’s plans for a proposed extension to the BSS Warehouse, Magna Park received by the Town Council for consideration and comments. BSS have advised that Harborough District Council has encouraged them to obtain the Town Council’s thoughts prior to the submission of a formal planning application. BSS are specialists in Heating, Plumbing, Engineering Products and Services and form part of the Travis Perkins group of companies. It is proposed to extend their existing warehouse by 3,809m2 (41,000sqft) to the existing 10,683m2 (115,000sqft) building, providing a total floor area of 14,492m2. The extension will be across an area of vacant land within the site confines. It is not proposed that car parking will change from the existing of 89 spaces (including 1 disabled space), site area is 2.75ha. While the size of the building is proposed to increase it should be noted that overall staff numbers will not. This is because the site currently accommodates approximately 100 staff employed by Plumbing Trade Supplies, who are scheduled to relocate to a new unit in Crick. Staff employed by BSS who will remain at the site will increase by 10 as a result of the extension proposals. Members RESOLVED to SUPPORT the application when it is submitted to Harborough District Council as the expansion is within the site confines and will not result in an increase to vehicular movement. 6.
