What should I do if I miss a timetabled session?
There may be occasions when missing one of your timetabled sessions is unavoidable; however you
will not receive an absence mark if you attend an alternative session. To make sure that there are
no problems with attending an alternative group and that your attendance is recorded please follow
the steps below:
1. Check the timetable for the module to find out when other sessions are taking place. You
can find the link (http://nuweb.northumbria.ac.uk/timetabling/tt/ttreports.htm) on the
bottom right of the University home page. Please choose ‘module’ from the first drop down
list and then enter the relevant module code
2. Email the tutor for the session you wish to attend to check that they are happy for you to do
so
3. Make sure that your attendance is recorded on the register at the session
There is no need for you to inform the Student Liaison Team of your absence if you follow the above
procedure.
On some occasions it may not be possible for you to attend an alternative session. In this case you
must inform the Student Liaison Team of your absence. You can do this in the following ways:




by using the online form available at www.northumbria.ac.uk/justasklaw
in person at Reception on the 3rd floor
by email to JustAskLaw@northumbria.ac.uk
by telephone on 0191 227 4494
If your absence covers a prolonged period we may ask you to provide evidence of your
circumstances, which will be kept on your student file.
