THE CHURCHES CONSERVATION TRUST Impact Research Internship/Volunteer The Churches Conservation Trust is seeking a part-time volunteer to carry out research on the impact of CCT’s work, in support of the Chief Executive. The Churches Conservation Trust www.visitchurches.org.uk is the national charity protecting historic churches at risk. We’ve saved over 340 beautiful buildings which attract almost 2 million visitors a year. With our help and with your support they are kept open, in use and free to all – living once again at the heart of their communities. The volunteer will examine the economic and social impact of the Trust and write a short report on his/her findings. With the help of the Trust’s team, s/he will gather and analyse numerical and qualitative data including case studies and interviews with the people benefitting from CCT’s work. The project will look at issues such as how much economic value is created by a visit to a Trust church, how many jobs are created by our repair and other programmes, the qualitative benefit to communities of our keeping a historic church open and in use and the contribution to tourism of CCT’s national collection. The research will provide valuable information which the CCT will use in its communications with Government and the public to demonstrate how their support makes a difference to local communities around its churches. In return you will have the opportunity to discover a fascinating area of work, meet a wide range of professionals, politicians and supporters and learn new skills. You will need to: be highly organised and able to work under your own initiative, have excellent verbal and written communication skills, have a sound knowledge of basic research methods and IT enjoy working in a team be interested in learning about and promoting the work of the Trust.
