1. Are you interested in helping people, healthcare, and sports? You should
apply for student athletic training; we have current openings for fall term.
Applications are available in the front office and are due by March 4th.”

2. Attention Juniors! The American Legion is now accepting applications for
Boy’s state and Girl’s state!!! If you are selected, you will attend a
government camp May 28th through June 4th. Girl’s State is at the
University of Oklahoma and Boy’s State is at Northeastern Oklahoma State
University in Tahlequah, Oklahoma. The goals of Boy’s State and Girl’s
State are: To develop leadership and pride in American citizens and to
further educate students about our system of government. If you are
interested or have questions, please see Mrs. Shubert in the counseling
center. (2/21-3/10)
3. Volleyball is taking applications for managers and video/photographer and
to get a form from Mrs. Nemecek in N105. These Need to be turned in by
March 4th.

Seniors: Sign up in the counselor center for an Oklahoma PTA
scholarship. This is a state-wide scholarship. There will be a SHS PTSA
scholarship opportunity in March. These are 2 different scholarships. For
an application, see Mrs. Shubert. The deadline for the OK PTA scholarship
is April 1st. More details to come on the SHS scholarship.
5. Please check the lost and found in the main office if you are missing any
items. It is overflowing, and the unclaimed items will be donated soon.
6. Multicultural Club will have a meeting before and after school on Thursday
in Mrs.Castellanos's room.
7. Attention all senior girls, did you know that you are required to have a white
collar attached to your graduation gown?? Well, when you pick up your
graduation gown on March 8th and 9th, you can pay a low $3 fee to have
the white collar neatly sewn onto your gown. There will be a booth set up
so make sure you bring your $3 to our booth after you pick up your gown
from Jostens Graduations Services. We will also provide this service two
weeks prior to the senior group picture in April. You will be able to pick your
gowns back up one or two weeks before the senior group picture. If you
have any questions, please see Mrs. Johnson in room N210 or talk to
Christina Libey, Nichole Jackson, Shelbae Truman, or Allyson

8. PROM TWENTY-ELEVEN: As you are preparing for prom season, be sure
you are in compliance with the dress code. The dress code is listed in the
packets you received in your English class and there are pictures on the
junior webpage. You WILL be sent home if you are not dress
appropriately! If you are in situation where the cost of a tux or dress is
going to be a hardship for you, please let your counselor know and we will
see what we can make available for you. (2/28-3/-10)
9. The 2011 prom t-shirt order deadline has been extended to March 8th. Be
sure to get one of these cool shirts!
10. It’s that time of year again for cheer and pom tryouts – tryout packets can
be picked up starting Wednesday March 2Cheer packets can be picked up
form Mrs. Brickman in room S220Pom Packets can be picked up form
Mrs. Rousseau in room N 208 All packets are due March 29th!! (3/1-3/4)
11. AP exams are upon us! If you are enrolled in an Advanced Placement
course and wish to take the exam in May for a chance to earn college
credit, you must sign up and make payment to Ms. Connel, in room S 111,
before or after school or during both lunches starting next week. You will
ONLY HAVE A ONE WEEK window to sign up and pay for the exams. If
you have any specific questions, please visit with your AP teachers. (3/13/4)
12. Trinity first church of god is selling pizza and drinks for lunch every Friday.
Located on santa fe between 134th & 149th. THE FIRST 100 SLICES OF
PIZZA ARE FREE!!!! (3/1-3/4)
13. NHS members! There is a meeting next Wednesday, March 9th, at 7:40
am and 3: 15 pm. This meeting is only for new members and those who
want to be an officer for next year. We also have another point opportunity.
Now through next Friday, we will be receiving school supplies such as
pencils, pens, color pencils, and paper in Mr. Garner’s room. Every $5 will
be worth a donation point. Youmust bring the receipt as proof of purchase.
And this Saturday, the 5th, there is a food bank volunteer opportunity from
1-4 . also, all NHS forms are due by this Friday, the 4th. Make sure to
have those filled out and turned to Mr. Garner by then. (3/1-3/9)
14. March 4, Friday is the last day to register for the April ACT Test! Be sure to
register by Friday if you plan to take the April ACT.
15. Southmoore Football Needs Students for the 2011 Video Crew! Like to
work with high dollar equipment? Like to travel to sporting events? Come
be a part of the Team! Signup on gosabercats.com Time is running out.
16. Teachers, Zach Hawley from the Legend Group is in the lounge today and
tomorrow. If you have any questions regarding retirement or want some
more information on the 457b or Roth 403 b plans please see him when
you can.
