Letter to all Players and Parents of the FHS Baseball Program,
My name is Matt H. Iglitz and I am the Head Baseball Coach at Foothill High School. I have
been at Foothill as the Head Coach for 5 years. I look forward to working with you and your son both
on the field and in the classroom. Our focus within this baseball program is not only to develop
excellent athletes, but also to help shape these young men into mature, well-rounded adults.
Before we get deeper into the intramural period and eventually into the season, I wanted to take
an opportunity and discuss the fundraising portion of our baseball program with you. I know that
fundraising can at times be overwhelming, especially for incoming first year players and I wanted to try
and ease the process.
Our players are not required to fundraise, and fundraising does not guarantee that any player will
make the team. However, if your son is part of our baseball program this spring, there are operating
costs that all players are expected to share. Baseball is one of the more expensive sports at the high
school level. In addition, we consider ourselves a top-notch baseball program and we want to give our
players the best overall baseball experiences. These experiences include two out-of-state varsity
tournaments, in St. George, UT and in San Diego, CA. These tournaments offer fantastic competition
and the opportunity to grow as a team. These tournaments are not free; however. The costs of these
tournaments are high. Any player who makes the varsity baseball team will be present at both
tournaments. Each player is responsible for covering their shared costs of the tournaments. Fundraising
would be the easiest way to cover your share. If a player does not fundraise, that player/family would
have to pay the shared amount ($388). Each Varsity player is responsible for a total of $388 dollars.
Here is the official breakdown of the $388 per player, which does NOT include any tournament costs
($900) that have already been paid.
San Diego Lions Tournament
St. George Little Caesars Classic
Charter Bus
Hotel Rooms (3 nights)
$ 172
$ 119
Rental Vans
Hotel Rooms (1 night)
$ 42
$ 55
Our JV players are responsible for a much smaller share, as they will not be traveling out of
town. JV tournaments are in town, but there are still costs for the JV players.
The remaining difference in the Color Packages pays for the players turf shoes, pullovers,
sweatshirts, etc.
This does not include any other costs we have throughout the year, including hats ($2000) tee
shirts ($1000) Game Pants ($1200) Game Balls ($750) Mound Clay Clay/Field Conditioner ($1200)
Fertilizer ($400) Practice Balls ($500), etc. in addition to many other costs. As you can see, it takes a
good amount of money to make our program work.
If you have any questions about the Fundraising Packages, please feel free to contact me. I
understand that the process is overwhelming, but it can be very easy to accomplish with a solid effort by
the player.
On the back of this sheet is a breakdown of our fundraisers. We offer several different
fundraisers for the players. Again, I hope that your son will use this avenue in order to raise money for
the program, eliminating your cost and providing the player with full overall experience
Thank you for your support and I look forward to working with you and your son.
Sincerely,
Matt H. Iglitz

Donation Letters
Each player will address ten provided envelopes/letters representing the Foothill Baseball Program. The
letters are intended to be sent to family members, friends of the family or anyone that you, the parent,
think might be interested in donating to our program. The players will then return the envelopes (no
stamps) and we do the rest! Any money that returns in a player’s name goes immediately in their Color
Package account.
Clothing Orders
Each player will receive a clothing order form. The players will have one week to return the form with
as many orders as possible. The player is to sell Foothill Baseball T-Shirts, Sweat Shirts, Hats and Polo
Shirts. The goal is to sell as many possible orders to anyone interested in purchasing any of the items,
including, family, friends, businesses, etc. The player then accumulates the total money earned minus
the cost.
Golf Tournament
Each year we host a golf tournament at Boulder Creek Golf Club. The player is encouraged to find a
group (foursome) or more for the event. In the last several years we have had many parents play in the
event as well. Two years ago we maxed out the tournament with 164 players. Last year we finished
with 120 players. Your son should try and find golf players for the event. A player may bring in as
many foursomes as they can find (last year, one player brought in 7 foursomes). The player will net
$120 per foursome (tournament cost minus the golf course cost). If you know of anyone interested in
playing in the event, help your son out and try to assist in finding foursomes.
Hole Sponsors
(At the golf tournament event)
Players can sell a Hole Sponsor sign to any business, family or person. The person who purchases the
Hole Sponsor essentially “owns”/sponsors that hole for the day of the golf tournament. The cost is
$100. We make the sign and the player nets all $100. Last year we had over 20 hole sponsors.
Businesses in both Henderson and Boulder City are generally willing to sponsor a hole.
Outfield Signs
Outfield signs (4’x 8’) can be purchased by any business in the Las Vegas area. The player should try
and sell the sign to any interested business. New OF signs cost $400. Renewal signs cost $250. The
sign will be hung from February through the summer. Last year, we sold over 30 OF signs. Businesses
like to hear that their advertisement will be visible to the 95 N/S Highway.
Hit-A-Thon
Players will take part in the annual Hit-A-Thon. Players will collect pledges per foot and then hit for
distance.
Web Sponsors/Programs
Players will sell advertising space on our website, www.foothillbaseballnv.com. The cost of the web
sponsor is $100 and it remains on the website for one year.
Media Guide
Parents can purchase a ½ page ($50) or full page ($100) ad/message for their son in our upcoming 2010
Media Guide. Pages can include color photo(s) and messages to the player. Requested message/photo
should be emailed to Coach Iglitz at miglitz@interact.ccsd.net if possible. Players can also sell
advertising space in our media guide as well. Sponsors can purchase a ½ page for $50 or full page ad
for $100.
