INSTRUMENT OF ACCESSION WHEREAS the International Convention on Oil Pollution Preparedness, Response and Co-operation, 1990 (hereinafter referred to as the “Convention”) was adopted by the World Maritime Organisation on 30 November 1990; AND WHEREAS Article 15 of the Convention makes provision for accession; AND WHEREAS the Government of the Republic of South Africa is desirous of acceding to the Convention and the Parliament of the Republic of South Africa has approved the said Convention in accordance with the requirements of South African law; NOW THEREFORE I, MAITE NKOANA-MASHABANE, MINISTER OF INTERNATIONAL RELATIONS AND COOPERATION OF THE REPUBLIC OF SOUTH AFRICA, declare that the Government of the Republic of South Africa, having considered the said International Convention on Oil Pollution Preparedness, Response and Co-operation, 1990, hereby accedes to the same and undertakes faithfully to perform and carry out all the stipulations contained therein.
