A. Highly charge ion interaction with biomolecules using ToF technique.
[This project aims to study the ion-induced damage of DNA-base, using ECR ions
beams. However the main emphasis will be to learn the beasic techniques of time of
flight recoil ion measurements+ ecr beam techniques].
B. Electron impact ionization of C60 fullerenes using electron spectroscopic technique.
[This projects is aimed to initiate new measurememnts on plasmon resonance in C60
using fast electron beams from a table top setup. This is an ideal project to learn basic
techniques of electron spectroscopy, vacuum techniques, data analysis. Finally the
experiment is however, towards a bigger goal of probing collective excitation in clusters]

2. Characterization of the Near Infrared Camera TIRCAM2 based on 512x512 Indium
Antimonide Array (spectral response 1 - 5 micron)
by Prof. Swarna Kanti Ghosh
Brief summary : The project will involve understanding of Infrared detectors, optics,
cryogenics, electronics, data acquisition, statistical analysis and image processing. The
TIRCAM2 camera will have to be tested and characterized for read noise, dark
current, photon background, photo-responsivity, effect of saturation, etc.
