First Call for Papers The 20th Annual Conference of the Women's History Network 9 - 11 September 2011 20 Years of the Women's History Network Looking Back - Looking Forward To be held at The Women's Library and London Metropolitan University Plenary speakers include Dr Kathryn Gleadle and Dr Caroline Bressey. There will be two plenary panels: one with Prof Sheila Rowbotham, Prof Sally Alexander, and Dr Anna Davin; the other with Prof Krista Cowman, Prof Jane Rendall, Prof Leonore Davidoff and Dr Helen Meller discussing the founding and early days of the WHN. The conference will look at the past 20 years of writing women's history, and ask the question: where are we now? We invite a wide range of papers from histories of feminism through to current areas of debate 1. Reading Room Theme 2. Networks Theme 3. religion, 4. ‘race’, 5. sexuality, 6. motherhood, 7. gender and space, 8. the rethinking of family relationships 9. perspectives on national and transnational/international histories of the women's movements We are also calling on users of the Women's Library to take part in a strand based in our Reading Room. We would like researchers to choose an object / item that has inspired your writing and thinking and share your experience. Please send a title and abstract of 250 words of your paper by the 1st of April, 2011 to conference@womenshistorynetwork.org. Registration for the conference opens on the 1st of April 2011.
