SHRP TRANSITION PLAN to Faculty and Staff – November 17, 2008 As I assume the Interim Dean position, I am so thankful to be at SHRP working with our excellent faculty and staff. Thank you for all you have done for SHRP and will do for SHRP in the future. I look forward to continuing to work with each of you. As we transition into a slightly revised leadership team that has to cope with the fiscal realities, it will be important that we focus on our mission “to educate students to become socially responsible health professionals who will function competently, creatively and collaboratively in a dynamic health care environment.” Our Vision, written in 2005 for 2010, states: [SHRP] will expand its high quality offerings to better meet the growing needs of entry level and advanced level students. The priorities will be education, followed by research and community service. The School stresses a humanistic approach to education and client care. The School’s partnerships with academic units and the health care agencies will increase and expand nationally and internationally. The School will be recognized as leaders in allied health education and research. Finally, the School will provide innovative solutions to improve the health status of the public. We have done a great job. I know we will strive in continuing to enhance education, research and service and improve our work environment. With two vacant Associate Dean positions and funding not available until at least April to fill even one, the work of the Dean’s Office will be shared. I have created four new Dean’s Advisory Teams to guide the Dean, working with the Dean to determine strategies for the next 18 months; shape procedures; give feedback to the Management Council; and assist in advancing our mission. The Dean’s Advisory Teams: Academics and Technology: Ann Tucker (team facilitator), Elaine Keohane, Syed Haque, Maria Constanten, Cynthia Silkowski , Vernon Cabalfin, Matthew Rosenthal Research and External Funding: Bob Denmark (team facilitator), David Hom, Riva Touger-Decker, Ken Gill, Alma Merians, Winston Watson, Donna Cifelli Community and Student Services: Carolyn Breen (team facilitator), Avril Lecky, Cherlyn Scantlebury, Suzanne D’Anna, Ted Kelley Administrative Services: Sylvia Pena (team facilitator), Brian Lewis, Adam Perlman, Pat Forte, Pat Kelly, Douglas Lomonaco Many individuals have volunteered to assume specific tasks of the Associate Deans. The following list focuses on items you submit or contact often. You will certainly see many others taking on additional responsibilities, as you go about your day-to-day work of furthering SHRP’s success.
