-1- School Name DCFS Number 874/ (Design your own front cover) School Travel Plan Document -2- Introduction In 1998, the Government introduced its White Paper on Transport, which emphasised the need to address the use of cars for the school journey. School Travel Plans are seen as a key component in addressing school journey issues. A School Travel Plan is a package of measures aimed to reduce the number of ‘school runs’ made. A series of different measures introduced by the school, through the Plan, all contribute to reducing the congestion outside the school gates. Pupils, staff and parents are educated about and encouraged to walk and cycle to and from school instead, thus helping to increase pupils’ independence, safety and health and fitness. Our school travel plan This is the basic template for your School Travel Plan, designed to save you from writing it from scratch. You may find you have already done a lot towards your Plan, and that it is simply a question of pulling information together. If not, this template provides you with a simple format to follow. Feel free to add any extra information you think is useful – comments, pictures, statistics, anything which further illustrates your case. Asset Management Plans A copy of this travel plan, will be sent to the Asset Management team to incorporate any changes made as part of the travel plan is reflected and show in the AMP document. A copy of the landlords consent form to make changes is also attached and will be sent to the AMP team. -3- Index -4- INTRODUCING OUR SCHOOL Name of School DCFS Number 874/ Type of school Address Telephone Number : 01733 Fax Number: 01733 Head Teacher………………………………………………. Mention how awareness is going to be raised to different people. And how promotion of the Plan is going to be done. Solutions E.g. Hold regular assemblies about the journey to and from school, with good news stories and awards, if appropriate.
