Bridges Program
Agreement of Participation: The following activities will be required of all Bridges Scholars.
1.
Agree to seriously consider and pursue graduate study and a professional career in the biomedical sciences.
2.
Active participation in “Club BioMed” (Biomedical Science Club). This includes a progressive increase in leadership
responsibility for service projects sponsored by the club.
3.
Attend all Supplemental Instruction/Peer Tutoring sessions relevant to a course in which you are enrolled.
4.
In the summer pursue internships or take summer school courses to keep your transfer progress on schedule.
5.
Make satisfactory progress towards a transfer degree in a discipline associated with the biomedical sciences.
6.
Attain/maintain GPA suitable for admission to a 4-year university.
7.
Engage in occasional outreach activities to acquaint high school and community college students with Bridges Program
opportunities.
8.
Consult on a frequent basis with advisors to insure appropriate progress toward on-time graduation.
9.
Participate in undergraduate research activities at CSUSM.
10. Will attend at least one scientific conference (Wed-Sat) if Bridges funds permit.
11. Will meet with Bridges Counselor, once a month for duration of the program.
12. Attend transfer college fairs conducted by the career planning and placement office.
13. Negotiate extent of external employment outside the Bridges Program with the Bridges Coordinator in insure full and
successful participation in the program.
14. Provide academic progress reports throughout each semester upon coordinator’s request, or legally authorize the coordinator
to seek this information from your instructors.
15. Agree to provide the Bridges Program with annual updates on your academic and career status for eight years after
transferring from Palomar College.
16. Notify the Bridges Coordinator, Dan Sourbeer, of any changes such as address, phone number, e-mail address, etc., at (760)
744.1150 ext 2775 or dsourbeer@palomar.edu.
17. Check your email at least twice per week.
18. Notify the Bridges Coordinator, Dan Sourbeer, when you will be out of town, and when you expect to return.
19. I GIVE PERMISSION TO THE SITE COORDINATOR TO SOLICIT PROGRESS REPORTS FROM MY
INSTRUCTORS.
