Rules for drawing a family pedigree:
1. Circles for females, Squares for males, and a line through the symbol means that
person has died.
2. The oldest family member of that generation is placed the furthest to the left.
3. If a person has married into the family they should not be connected to the main
bloodline.
The Smith Family
You have been selected to complete a family pedigree of the Smith family. There
are four generations of this family. Inside each symbol that you place on the pedigree list
the person’s name and age. Remember the rules for drawing a family pedigree. A rough
draft is recommended before you construct your final pedigree. The information that you
need is below and good luck!
John and June Smith married sixty year ago and began their family soon after.
John (85) and June (83) had two boys Ron (55) and Bob (48). They also had two girls,
Bonnie (49) and Nancy (52). As the years past all of these children married and began
families of their own.
Ron married Vera (50) and Bob married Connie (47). Bonnie married Bill (50)
and Nancy married Joe (54). Ron and Vera had two children Steve (31) and Shelly (29).
Bob and Connie also had Children. They had three boys; Larry (26), Rob (24), and Kurt
(19). Bill and Bonnie had two boys after their marriage Bill (25) and Adam (17). Joe
and Nancy also had two children Darcy (31) and Todd (30).
The Smith family doesn’t end there because some of these grandchildren decided
to make John and June Smith great grandparents. Steve married Katie (28) and they have
two children of their own, Tim (5) and Kari (2). Shelly married Mike (30) and currently
they have no children. Darcy married Randy (35) and they have two sons, Bryce (11)
and Brady (9). Todd married Amanda (28) and they have a beautiful baby girl Sue who
is one. Rob married Becky (23) and they have a daughter of their own Heather who is
three. And finally Larry married Mary (25) and they also have a daughter Jen who is
eight.
