Latina/o Graduate and Professional Student Fellowship Application 2014-2015 Want to learn to get more involved in an academic or professional organization? Want to learn how to put your academic career on the fast track? Want $1,000 dollars to support your academic research? The Latina/o Graduate & Professional Student Fellowship is a collaborative program by El Centro de la Raza and the Graduate Resource Center. The Fellowship seeks to increase representation of the Latina/o graduate and professional student community. The goal is to serve as a support system by making resources, networks, and skills available to students for a successful completion of their graduate degrees. Applicants must also submit both a letter of interest and curriculum vitae (CV) or resume to be considered. Applications must be received by 5pm on August 8, 2014. Program Commitment To receive $1,000 stipend at the end of the fellowship sessions (April/May timeframe) Fellows will: 1. Attend the eight monthly fellowship sessions from 3:00pm-5:00pm (August 22, September 19, October 17, November 14, January 23, February 20, March 20, and April 17 (dates may be subject to change)) 2. Participate in at least two monthly workshops (1 from the GRC workshops and 1 from other related activities) 3. Complete and submit assignments assigned by faculty fellows 4. Meet with your faculty mentor at least once per month 5. Complete fellowship survey at the end of the fellowship Monthly Gatherings Monthly gatherings will be facilitated by the El Centro de la Raza/GRC Faculty Fellows. The gatherings will cover a range of topics centered on your academic, professional and personal development. The eight gatherings will be two hours. Snacks and refreshments will be provided. Fellowship Workshops Attending two workshops per month is required for completion of the fellowship. Scheduled workshops will be held by: the Graduate Resource Center (GRC), El Centro de la Raza, the Project for New Mexico Graduates of Color (PNMGC), Graduate & Professional Student Association (GPSA), and other UNM projects. Fellows are also encouraged to attend workshops and presentations in their respective degree programs.
