eLearning Syllabus Mrs. Knepper CAMS South – E6 kneppsta@chambersburg.k12.pa.us eLearning is an introductory online course for 8th grade students. In this course, you will learn how to be a successful student while participating in an online course. In the future there is a very good chance that you will be taking online courses instead of being in a physical classroom with a teacher. This course is designed to prepare you for this opportunity. I realize that this may be difficult to get used to, so we are going to take it slow and try to do as much as we can online. If you need any help, please do not hesitate to ask for my assistance. Class Requirement: You will need a pen/pencil and you will be given a folder for note taking. Grading Policy: All assignments are given a point value. You can determine your grade by points earned out of the possible points available. Overview of Course: Unit 1 - Blackboard Introduction How is Blackboard used for learning? Topics covered include familiarizing yourself with Blackboard, collaborating with your instructor and collaborating with your class. Unit 2 – Internet Safety How do you practice proper Netiquette? Topics covered include protecting yourself while on the Internet, protecting your computer, cyberbullying and netiquette. Unit 3 – Using the Internet Effectively How do students effectively find online resources, evaluate them, and use them without breaking copyright laws? Topics covered include how to use a search engine, how to evaluate online resources for reliability, and Copyright laws. Grading Scale: A = 92-100% B = 84-91% C = 74-83% D = 65-73% F = 64 and below Class Rules: The Four P’s = Polite, Prompt, Prepared, and Positive No food, drinks, or GUM allowed in this classroom. If any of the equipment is broken, let the teacher know immediately. Always treat online posts as if you were saying them aloud to the class and teacher. Never log on to the class from anywhere outside of this classroom without prior permission from the teacher. If you ever have a question, don’t be afraid to ask! That’s what I’m here for.
