Founded in 1917, Shanghai University of Finance and Economics is a multi-dimensional university
which focuses on applied economics and management with theoretical economics as its basis, and its
subjects include science, law, philosophy and humanities as well. SUFE has been selected as one of the
21st Century’s 100 key universities in China also as one of “985 project” universities. SUFE is located
in the beautiful city Shanghai in the east of China. The University is one of the few universities in
China with post-doctoral research centers in the fields of Economics and Management. It is also among
those universities in China which first offered MBA and EMBA programs. Presently, SUFE has 8
schools and 3 departments, consisting of The School of Accounting, The School of Finance, The
School of International Business Administration, The School of Economics, The School of Public
Economics and Administration, The School of Humanities, The School of Law, The School of
Information Management and Engineering, The Department of Statistics, The Department of Foreign
Language, The Department of Mathematics. There are 36 undergraduate programs, 74 master programs
and 44 doctoral programs. SUFE has 860 high-level faculties, of which 430 are professors or associate
professors. There are totally more than 20,000 registered students, of which more than 4,000 are
graduate students towards master or Ph. D degrees. International Cultural Exchange School (ICES) of
SUFE is devoted to the education of foreign students and enrolls students who have won Chinese
Government Scholarship or Native Government Scholarship and students studying at their own
expenses. Chinese language training course has Business character. Welcome international students to
SUFE.

International Finance Master & PHD Program (taught in English)

Finance School of SUFE has a high-level faculty and cultivates undergraduate students, master degree
students and PHD candidates.
In 1996 and 2001, finance subjects are selected as Key Subjects in The
Education Committee of Shanghai Government. Finance subjects have a good reputation and a great
influence in academic research field. There are International Finance Master & PHD Program which
are open to international students. Except for the language courses, all the other courses in the program
are taught in English. The thesis and thesis defense are also going to be done in English. The total time
for master program is two years, and doctoral program is three years. Every year the master program
will accept about 15 students and PHD program can accept 5 students.
The courses in master program include Chinese Economic Issues , Chinese Language ,
Microeconomics,Macroeconomics,Mathematics for Economics,Money and Banking,International
Finance Management,Theory of International Finance,Econometrics,Investment, Exchange Rate
Economics,Financial Engineering,Chinese Culture.
And in PHD program they include Chinese
Language, Political Economics, A General Introduction of China, Advanced International
Macroeconomics, Advanced Financial Econometrics, Seminar on International Finance, Issues on
Corporate Finance, Investment Banking, Research on Foreign Exchange Markets.
Requirements for the Program:

Recommendation Letters from Two professors or associate professors

Above 550 in TOFEL or 6.5 in IELTS
