Basingstoke Motor Club
Tour Hampshire 12 Car Navigational Rally
Friday April 24th 2015
Supplementary Regulations
Introduction
Welcome to Basingstoke Motor Club’s second 12-car of the year.
The names comes from the night event that BMC ran in April during the 90’s when we were
able to run 160 – 170 miles on 185 and 186.
Announcement

First car starts at 8.00pm and is due at the last control at approximately 10.10 pm.
Insurance
The Organisers have applied to Jelf Insurance Partnership for a Blanket Cover Note under
the above scheme. This will provide competitors who need to use the scheme with the third
party cover necessary to meet RTA requirements on the road sections of the event.

the scheme must be able to comply with all points of the Jelf Insurance Partnership’s
Declaration: - I do not have Third Party Road Section cover on my current motor insurance.
- I am aged 20 or over.
- I have had no more than 1 fault claim in the last three years.

comply with any of the above points you will be required to complete the Declaration form (the
form can be obtained by contacting the event organiser or Jelf Insurance Partnership) which

Navigation
Plot and bash navigation will be used, with straightforward instructions.
Each class may receive different navigation in sealed envelopes; these will be inspected by
marshals at Passage & Time Controls to ensure they are still sealed.
Marked maps will be available for beginners providing they enter early and ask the organisers
nicely!
Controls
There will be three types of control; Time Controls (TC), Passage Checks (PC) and Secret
Checks (SC).
Time Controls will be staffed and you should ensure the marshal records your time in the
correct place. You may wait in controls for your due time (if you arrive early), but cannot open
the navigation or leave the control area until your due time. Please park sensibly so as not to
obstruct other competitors and road users.
Passage Checks will take the form of code boards, which on small triangles may be on the
right hand side of the road. These should be recorded on your time card in the correct place,
and signed for at the next staffed control.
Secret Checks may be used to check conformity with route instructions and give way
requirements. These controls will be staffed.
Please ensure the information recorded on your time card is legible!
Controls will close 30 minutes after the due time of the last car. Maximum Lateness is
therefore 30 minutes.
Marking
Marking and penalties will be applied as follows:
Late arrival at a Time Control, per minute
1 minute
Early arrival at a Time Control, per minute
2 minutes
Wrong approach to a staffed control
1 fail
Opening a navigation envelope early
1 fail
For each TC missed or not recorded
1 fail
For each PC missed or not recorded
10 minutes
Exceeding Maximum Lateness, per Time Control
1 fail
Infringing rules on Quiet Zones
1 fail (2nd offence, exclusion)
Not reporting to final TC within maximum lateness
Deemed to have retired
Behaviour likely to bring motorsport into disrepute
Exclusion
Ties will be resolved by furthest cleanest, then in favour of Beginners, then by lowest
capacity. Beyond that, the organisers reserve the right to use any means they deem
appropriate to resolve ties or protests.
Quiet Zones
Any area with a non-national speed limit or which is obviously built up should be treated as a
Quiet Zone. These areas should be driven through in the highest possible gear, with auxiliary
lights turned off. Other Quiet Zones will be notified in the Final Instructions and navigation.
North Hampshire is a fairly built-up area and this makes it impossible to avoid villages and
speed limits. Please treat the route and those who live on it with respect.
Results
Results will be announced as soon as possible after the last competitor finishes.
