Directions for Story using scratch:
You will create an animated story using the computer program scratch. This story will show your
knowledge and ability to create a working project that uses programming written by you to move
characters, make them interact, and change graphics. This project will require you to do more than
just import standard graphics. You will need to modify and edit or create your own sprites and
backgrounds to make this project original to you. Your story should include a combination of
program driven sequencing and user controlled interaction. Should you finish this project before the
deadline, continue to modify and edit your effects. It can only increase your grade. MAKE SURE
YOU SAVE YOUR WORK OFTEN AND CHECK TO MAKE SURE IT SAVES! SAVE IT IN
MORE THAN ONE PLACE!
Below are specific guidelines for your project:
1. You will take me through a school day or create a news broadcast. If you chose a school day
there should be a morning setting, a school setting(s), and after school setting(s). If you chose
a news broadcast there should be at least 3 different scenes.
2. Create a story involving at least 3 different sprites and 3 different backgrounds.
3. Each background should have some editing done or be created from scratch to create a unique
look. If you chose to use the scrolling feature to change backgrounds there must be at least 3
different sprite backgrounds.
4. Each sprite should have at least 3 different costumes and change between them during the
story.
5. Sprites should move through user control and also through use of interactive program scripts
i.e broadcasting, when touching color, etc.
6. There needs to be enough dialogue to create sprite personality, have a plot, etc.
7. Create exchanges between characters longer than 1 sentence.
8. Story should operate with a combination of self starting programs and user controlled actions.
9. Characters who are not involved in interactions should be hidden until relevant in the story.
10.
Write a guide on what buttons operate your story so that a user unfamiliar with scratch
could navigate through your story.
