Further post-graduate training has taken place to the World Health Organization, Influenza
Reference Centre in Mill Hill, London and at the National Influenza Centre UK in
Collindale, London for 1-2 week periods each year during 2004-2010. These were practical
seminars associated with research and diagnostic methods on respiratory viruses and
antiviral drug resistance.
Laboratory / University experience
- Responsible for the organization of the National Influenza Centre for northern
Greece (2003-2010) :
- Real time PCR detection of the influenza A and B viruses
- Sequencing of HA and NA genes for epidemiological purposes
- Sequencing of the NA and M2 genes for testing the resistance of northern Greek
Influenza circulating strains to antiviral drugs
- Responsible for the organization of the molecular department of the 2nd Laboratory
of Microbiology, Medical School, Aristotle University of Thessaloniki (2003-2010):

Diagnosis: Molecular detection of Rubella, Measles, Parvo B19, RSV, hMPV,
boca, CMV, Adenovirus, Chlamydia trachomatis, Chlamydia pneumoniae,
Neisseria gonorrhea, Ureaplasma urealyticum.
