Leading With Impact (Instructor Lead)
Leading with Impact, CARE’s global leadership program, is a key component of the organization’s efforts to
build a global cadre of leaders. The program blends classroom learning with field practice. It starts with an
initial five-day face-to-face group development experience, leading into a three-month period focused on action
learning and development in practice. Program content is customized to emphasize both CARE’s principled,
values-centered approach to leadership, and the skills required to maximize the impact of its leaders.
Participation in this program is limited and by invitation only.

Managing For Results I (Instructor Lead)
Managing for Results is an awareness and skill-building workshop that provides managers with 360-degree
feedback regarding how others perceive their managerial strengths and gaps. Managers also learn a process
for determining the best approach to use in managing others around a specific project: whether to direct,
coach, support, or delegate. By the end of the workshop, managers have created a developmental action plan
and commit to a follow-up session in the next twelve months to assess progress against their development
objectives

Managing For Results II (Instructor Lead)
This program builds on the concepts of Situational Leadership that were learned in MFR I, and focuses on
strengthening specific management skills. The priority skill areas as identified by CARE’s aggregate 360 data
are: Adapting management style; Coaching; Giving feedback; Resolving differences. The program provides
participants with an opportunity to learn the steps for demonstrating these skills, see them modeled by the
instructors, and practice applying the skills in small working groups. Participants also have the opportunity to
receive a second round of 360 degree feedback which will enable them to track progress over time.

Managing Inclusiveness: (Instructor Lead)
Managing Inclusiveness provides an introduction to Diversity at CARE. This experiential workshop helps staff
discover the depth and richness of our diverse organization. You’ll explore how our differences and similarities
impact our organizational life; learn skills to function effectively in a diverse and complex workplace, practice
personal and collective responsibility for furthering our organizational learning. This is a required program for
all CARE staff.

Dialog Across Differences (Instructor Lead)
Provides an interactive exchange among participants that builds greater understanding of different
perspectives, lifestyles and beliefs. This workshop builds on the basic understanding of diversity acquired in
Managing Inclusiveness and fosters a safe environment for understanding one’s self and others more deeply.

Managing For Diversity (Instructor Lead)
Managing for Diversity, a workshop for managers, builds upon the two staff diversity workshops by addressing
the role of a manager as a manager of diversity. You’ll explore the issues of discrimination and fairness,
accountability, building trust in dominant-subordinate relationships, and how to use diverse resources to
enhance learning and effectiveness.

Complete Diversity Curriculum (TOOLKIT)
This Toolkit incorporates all three programs in the Diversity Curriculum providing facilitator, participant and
implementation guides, Pre-work assignments and guidelines for Organizational Effectiveness support. The
Kit has been validated through different workshops around the globe and can be easily adapted for particular
contexts.

Workweek (Instructor Lead)
Workweek’s new design engages participants in a learning sharing experience in all facets of CARE’s work.
Facilitators will start the discussion by making a brief presentation to spark exchange in such topics as
diversity, the link between HLS, RBA and Program Principles; relationship to the CI strategic plan, country
office security, coaching skills, integrating competencies into performance management, Emergency and
Disaster Response, HIV/AIDS, Basic & Girls’ Education, Strategic Support and Internal Audit.

Managing Self Leadership (Instructor Lead)
This program presents an opportunity for participants to assess their strengths and development needs against
the CARE-USA organizational competencies as they relate to Building and Nurturing Relationships, Managing
Self, and Working with others to achieve results. Staff identify their development level at various tasks in their
current job and learn skills that support a constructive approach to problem-solving and negotiating their
manager’s and others involvement in your work. At the conclusion of the day individuals create an action plan
for their personal development.

Facilitative Leadership (Instructor Lead)
This is a two-day program that builds participants skills and confidence in leading collaborative planning and
problem solving discussions. The program focuses on deciding on who should be involved in making
decisions and how to involve them, designing meetings, project plans and change strategies with concrete
milestones and accountabilities and learning about the three dimensions of success: Results, Process and
Relationships.
Target Audience:
 Staff that play leadership roles in facilitating meetings, dialogues and other group processes in a way that
ensures greater participation and ownership from participants

Competency Based People-Management Program (CPMP) – (Toolkit)
The CPMP is a comprehensive people-management curriculum that is designed with a dual focus, the first on
individual needs (providing skills and knowledge), and the second on promoting global impact (that help
support and reinforce behavior change). The goal of the program is to provide global managers with the
crucial people management skills required to advance the organization’s change agenda, and to support
individual’s development aspirations. The curriculum will address three tiers of skills, Fundamental Skills
(Managing Self, Managing Others, Managing Groups), Intermediate Skills (Managing Conflict and Building
Teams), and Strategic Skills (Fostering Innovation & Creativity, Managing Change and Analytical Thinking).
Stand alone modules will be available for delivery locally.

Personal Safety and Security (e-learning)
The program covers basic information staff need to know in order to be conscious of how they can reduce their
Risk in all situations: while traveling, at home and at work. The module is self-paced and comes with a
Resources section that includes CARE’s Safety and Security Handbook and a facilitator’s guide for leading
group sessions about safety and security in the local workplace

Rapid Emergency Assessment (e-learning)
The program provides a brief explanation of a process to use when immediately analyzing a disaster situation.
The module contains tools and guidelines for completing a condensed, rapid assessment of the environment,
people and immediate needs

The Report Writing Workshop in English (e-learning)
The program covers the essentials for writing reports in English (especially to donors). Participants receive
intensive one-on-one coaching and feedback on their writing, using current documents they are working on.
This course will be piloted as an on-line, virtual classroom with an instructor, followed up with on-going learner
feedback over several weeks. Participants need to have access to the internet and e-mail, and be committed to
working on their writing skills- in English. Fundamentals, such as analyzing data, organizing thoughts and
paragraph construction are core components taught in this course

 All staff who needs to communicate in written English
