THE COMMITTEE ON ANNUAL RESIDENT RESEARCH PAPER AND POSTER CONTEST
IS INVITING ALL RESIDENTS AND MEMBERS TO JOIN. PLEASE INDICATE WHICH
CONTEST (RESEARCH OR POSTER) YOUR ENTRIES WILL COMPETE IN. GIVEN
BELOW ARE THE INSTRUCTIONS/RULES ON HOW TO JOIN
.
1. The contest is open to all Pathology Residents. The contest will have an Anatomic
Pathology and Clinical Pathology category. The research entries will be screened according
to a set of criteria.
2. The Research paper should be unpublished and have not been presented/won in any similar
contest outside their Institution.
3. The research paper must have been approved by their institution’s Ethics Review board or any
other similar approving bodies. A proof of the said approval will be asked from the finalists.
4. The complete copy of the Research Paper can be submitted contained in a Compact Disc (CD)
accompanied by a written manuscript printed, double spaced on a 8.5” x 11” white bond paper.
5. There must be no identifying marks referring to the author or institution on the manuscript. The
manuscript and CD must be placed in a sealed envelope with another sheet of paper with the
TITLE, NAME of AUTHOR, INSTITUTION and CONTACT INFORMATION including e-
mail address.
6. The following will not be accepted as entries:
a. Preliminary Reports of Research
b. Case Reports or Case Series
7. The finalists will be pre-judged according to the set criteria.
8. The finalists for the research contest will be announced approximately two (2) weeks
after the deadline.
9. The author should be the presentor during the oral presentation at the PSP Annual
Convention. Each is given 8 minutes to present his/her paper.
10. The Board of Judges will be composed of three (3) members.
11. Each member of the Board of Judges will be allowed one question each with one follow up
question.
12. The Chairman of the Committee on Research will announce the winners during the Closing
Ceremony.
13. The grand prize winner (First Place) Anatomic and Clinical category will each receive Php
10,000.for the first place, Php 7,000 for the second place, Php 5,000 for the third place.
14. Deadline for submission of entries is tentatively on March 18, 2016 to the Committee on
Research at PSP Secretariat office. The date and time of the contest during the convention will
be announced later.

1. The contest is open to all members of the Philippine Society of Pathologists ( Fellows,
Diplomates and Junior Members/Residents )
2. Only one entry per Fellow, Diplomate , Junior Member/Residents will be accepted.
3. The size of the poster is 5 ft. x 3 ft.. The sections should flow like a
storybook starting from the top to bottom.
4. The Presentation should consist of:
a. Title – 15 words or less
b. Objective Statements
c. Case summary to include pictures of the histopathology/autopsy report, imaging studies
etc.
d. Discussion
f. Conclusion
g. References
5. The Final Layout of the Poster must be submitted in a Compact Disc (CD).
6. Deadline of commitment will be on March 18, 2016.
7. Finalists for the poster category will be announced approximately two (2) weeks after the
deadline.
8. The three winners will receive Php 7,000.00, Php 5,000.00 and Php 3,000.00 for the First,
Second and Third Prizes, respectively.
