Lesson Plan Maureen Kenny Class: IB Biology Objectives: Students will be able to: 1) use Spatial Analyst to create and analyze grid themes 2) determine relationships between soil, terrain, and crop yield 3) determine other uses for Spatial Analyst in the field of Biology Materials: computer with ArcView capabilities, Spatial Analyst extension Procedure: 1) Each student will work through the chapter 5 exercise in the Spatial Analyst book. Paragraphs that provide the analysis of the graphs created will be deleted. Assignment: 1) Each student will analyze each graph created and determine the relationship, writing a few sentences about each. 2) Each student will write a conclusion about the relationship between soil, terrain, and crop yield. Challenge: Think of a way that this program could be used in the field of Biology. Write a paragraph describing specifically how you would use it. What do you see as the advantages the program Spatial Analyst?
