Participants will learn traditional and contemporary drawing techniques and materials from regional artist Christina Luck and explore the visual elements of line, shape, placement, shading and colour. LIFE DRAWING FOR YOUTH (Grade 11 & 12 students) Dates: January 11 to March 7, 2016 (no class on February 15) Times: Mondays: 6:30 to 8:30 pm, 8 workshops; live model for all classes Fees: $180.00 + HST/$162.00 + HST for Friends of the MacLaren; Materials not included Join regional artist Marshall Geddes and learn drawing techniques using a live model that will boost your portfolio submission. In addition, participants will learn effective ways to discuss their artwork as well as experiment with various drawing media and acquire knowledge of Design Principles. W-EDGE: THE GIF PROJECT (ages 14 to 18) Dates: January 13 to March 23, 2016 (no class on March 16) Times: Wednesdays: 3:00 – 5:00 pm, 10 workshops Fees: Admission free; just drop-in. Materials provided Wednesdays are for art with an edge! Guided by regional artist Sean George, this drop-in art programme is designed to offer like-minded youth a place to meet and be creative. Spend art-filled afternoons creating a largescale painting exploring fluctuating colours, shapes and patterns, culminating in a group exhibition this spring at the Gallery. Led by a regional artist, children will begin with a tour of the current exhibitions and be inspired to create a variety of fun projects. This full-day camp led by practicing artist Christyn Grampola will engage campers in a variety of innovative art techniques and materials. Imagination is the limit when campers create visual narratives of their own world from characters, environments and buildings. In this full-day camp led by practicing artist Marshall Geddes, participants will be inspired by current exhibitions exploring text, printmaking and sculpture to create an imaginative, mixed-media cityscape.
