The representative for the College advised that the current college building had been earmarked for rebuilding in 2008, but lack of funding prevented works taking place and with no significant funding being available for reparations, the building no longer met the needs of students, hence a decline in recruitment. The representative for the College further advised that with funding available from South East Midlands Local Enterprise Partnership and match funding from the use of the land for development and further funding from Daventry District Council a new building would meet and reflect industry standards. A new building would inspire students and employers and give opportunities to local residents to learn new skills, join apprenticeship schemes and extend the higher education offering within Daventry Town. The representative from Alliance Planning advised that a public consultation had been held to give residents details of their proposals and that permission had been granted by the college for 9.6 hectares of the site to remain dual use allowing public access. 2014/53 Meeting of Daventry Town Council – Monday 23rd February 2015 Copies of indicative proposed site layout were circulated to members.
