Civilization Project Market Day #2 Assignment
We are working towards our second Trade Day, scheduled for Thursday, December 20. In
order to trade your civilization needs to use its Natural Resources (agricultural, mineral, and
animal) to create Products.
 Step One – Select of Products
For this Market Day, you will need to pay for the production of your
product. Different products cost different amounts to produce. Keep this
in mind as you consider your choices.
Select three (3) products you believe are important for your own civilization
and/or would be valuable trade items. These will be the only products that can
be applied to the Survival List (but you can use products from Development
Sheets or the Culture Project!) You may not use the previous Market Day
purchases. Write the name of the product and reason you believe it is
important for your own civilization and/or would be a valuable trade item.
1.
2.
3.
List Development Sheets or Culture Project Items which are products (you may
not include war related items):
 Step Two – Advertisement
You need to create a neat, colored, and informative advertisement for one of
your selected products (from Step One or Development Sheet.) Your
advertisement can be no larger than an 8 ½ x 11 sheet of paper. You need to
describe the item, provide an illustration of the item, and convince the customer
to select your item over others. You must also list the price of the item in CIEM.
(Remember, each person will receive 50 CIEM for the Market Day 2 and you
will need to pay for the production of your product.)
When advertising, remember it is a shipment for the civilization, not just one
piece of clothing or one banana. You may want to include a slogan about your
product, special features of your product, or other information to solicit a
purchase.
Your civilization number and location map must appear in the upper
right hand corner.
Market Day #2
Economic Questions (100 Grade)
Answer the following questions using completely. Some of them require mathematical
calculations. You will need to have your Labor Chart updated and available.
1. Limited Resources
All civilizations can only make a select number of products. Your civilization makes three
products (possibly more from Development Sheets or the Culture Project.) However,
civilizations typically need more products to survive or become comfortable.
How has this fact affected your civilization in the past and influenced you as you
prepare for Market Day #2?
2. Labor
How many people are in your civilization?
How many people work within Economics?
What percentage of your population work in Economics? (Economic People/Total People)
Of your Economic people, how many people are actually involved in making products?
What percentage of your population make products? (Product People/Total People)
You could only make three products for Market Day #2. Does your civilization have
resources to make more products?
Imagine if it took 500 people to produce one product (from getting the natural resource,
transporting it, initial construction, final preparation, etc.), how many products could your
civilization make using Economic people you have in your civilization?
If it took 500 people to produce one product, would you change the number of people working
in Economics and working on products?
Why? Please explain your reasons.
If so, what would be your new distribution? List all the different products you would
produce.
3. Impact of Trade
Like the Ancient Indians, as you trade with other civilizations your civilization’s ideas travel
with you (language, religion, etc.) and you are exposed to ideas in other civilizations. What
are some features of your civilization that you think are passed along as you travel and
trade?
