TEACHER: WEEK OF: UPPER DARBY HIGH SCHOOL LESSON PLAN DEPARTMENT: Science CLASS/SUBJECT: General science Deanna Wrecsics 2/18-2/22 TUESDAY WEDNESDAY Today’s Objective: The learner will: No school MONDAY Today’s Objective: The learner will: - identify the layers of the earth in the layers of the earth diagram Teaching Activities/Classwork: QOD: Teaching Activities/Classwork: QOD: Watch the layers of the earth video and write down one layer. Today’s Objective: The learner will: label the three types of tectonic plates explain what happens at each plate boundary Teaching Activities/Classwork: QOD: Explain what happens at the asthenosphere and lithosphere? We will talk about the video they viewed. The students will then use their textbook to fill out an information sheet on the layers of the earth. They will then do a worksheet where they will color and label the different layers of the earth. The students will then complete an exit pass. We will review how the lithosphere is broken into parts called plates the move around on the top of the asthenosphere. We will then discuss how the plates have moved throughout the years and view a video where it shows how the plates have moved. They will then view a powerpoint where they will learn about the three different types of plate boundaries. THURSDAY FRIDAY Today’s Objective: The learner will: -identify different landforms created by plate boundaries by reading a plate boundary map Today’s Objective: The learner will: -define the different types of rocks in the rock cycle. Teaching Activities/Classwork: QOD: Describe what happens at each plate boundary. Teaching Activities/Classwork: QOD: Do you think rocks change? We will review what happens at each plate boundary. The students will then color a plate techtonic map and then use it to complete a worksheet. We will then review the worksheet. The students will then complete an exit pass. We will take a poll to see if rocks change. The students will then view a brain pop that describes the rock cycle. The students will then do a station note activity where they will learn about the rock cycle and how the rocks are formed. The students will then complete an exit pass. The students will then do a cut and paste worksheet where they categorize the different images and words with the plate boundary.
