WWF, the global conservation organization, is seeking a: Climate Change and Freshwater Officer for the Mongolia Programme Office based in Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia I. Major Functions: Assist WWF Mongolia to integrate climate change adaptation and freshwater footprint mitigation in its projects and programs Provide technical backstopping on climate change and freshwater issues to WWF funded programs and projects Assist in ensuring financing projects within frame work of implementation of WWF Mongolia Conservation Strategy Ensure effective implementation of freshwater & climate change adaptation projects and Conservation strategy in accordance with WWF policies, procedures and standards and responds to queries on matters relating to project administration Ensure that findings of field projects effectively communicated at policy level in order to enable achieving goals/objectives set by Conservation Strategy II. Supervisory Responsibilities Responsible for supervision of short-term project employees for accomplishing of their duties and responsibilities III. Working relationships: Internal: Interacts regularly with Programme implementation manager, Programme development & performance manager and Communication manager and relevant staff of field offices in AHEC and ASER. External: Interacts with in-country governmental institutions, non-governmental organisations, academic institutions, River basin council and donors. Interacts with entities outside the country as agreed with the Programme Implementation manager of Mongolia. IY. Minimum Qualifications: 1. Knowledge: A higher degree (PhD or Masters) in hydraulic/hydrologic modeling and climate change adaptation, conservation, natural resources management, natural sciences or related field. Relevant work experience in conservation may be substituted for higher academic qualification. 2. Experience: Technical proficiency in the field of hydraulic/hydrologic modeling and climate change adaptation with at least 3 years professional experience in project planning and implementation 3. Skills and Abilities: Excellent capacity to manage financial resources, strong skills in project planning, financing, implementation and evaluation Ability to liaise effectively with local communities and governments at different levels Good communication and negotiation skills, Ability to work in a team and motivate stakeholders Excellent oral and written communications skills in English V.
