High School Information
Did you know that last year’s graduating class had one of St. Sylvester School’s most prestigious
collection of high school acceptances!?! From Northside College Prep and St. Ignatius to Lane Tech and
Gordon Tech, our graduates tested and were accepted into great high schools of their own choosing. They
also received significant amounts of financial aid and merit-based scholarships. As a school we advocate
strongly for our graduates. We look to continue that pattern this year and into the future and help our
students and families pursue the best possible avenues for each child’s academic success.
Families of students in 7th and 8th grade will be receiving a large packet with a great amount of
information about high school options, testing procedures, important dates, etc. This is a unique collection
and service from St. Sylvester that we have worked hard to produce. Please review this as soon as
possible so that you can feel comfortable with the choices before you and the different opportunities that
exist. We will be having many speakers come in soon from various high schools and from local
scholarship organizations. You can only get out of these opportunities what you put into them so we look
forward to working closely with you to make the selection and admission process as smooth and
successful as possible.
If families in younger grades would like to meet with me (Mr. Bennett) to discuss this, please call
me at school or reach me at stsylvesterschool@gmail.com.
Family Handbook Acknowledgement Slip
We need all families to return the last page of the 2010-11 Family Handbook that was sent home 2
weeks ago. Please sign the paper and then tear out and send back to school.
Class Family Contact List
All families will soon receive a copy of the family contact list for their child’s grade level. Only
those families who returned the purple slip will have their contact information listed.
Football Mania Fundraiser
In today’s folder you should receive 5 tickets as part of the Football Mania fundraiser. With this
fundraiser you are able to buy or sell the tickets for $10 each. Each ticket has different NFL teams listed
for each of the last 10 weeks of the season. Once activated, each ticket has a chance to win from $100 to
$1,000 based on the amount of points the ticket’s teams score each week.
If you buy them yourself, you should write your own name on the small part of the ticket and
return that to school with the money, while keeping the larger part of the ticket for your own records. If
you sell them to others, you will collect $10 for each ticket and write the ticket buyer’s name on the small
tab and then return that to school with the money. The buyer can keep the larger part of the ticket.
If you do not wish to participate in this fundraiser that is OK. Just please return the tickets to
school. If you want more tickets to sell, please contact the office.
3 Things to Know about Football Mania:
1. You can check for winning tickets by visiting www.charitymania.com and entering your ticket number
on that home page.
2. We can only activate the tickets if the name stubs are returned to school with the money.
3. In the last 3 years of doing this fundraiser, our ticket buyers have won well over $2,000 altogether.
