Notes from the meeting. Peter Jones is retiring as Area secretary. Replacements have been found to cover his responsibilities. Area newsletter in future to include reports from Groups Concern was expressed at the increasing pressure from Off Road Cyclists wanting to use public footpaths. Treasurer: Area has been paid off in full so we are now out of debt. Balance is £2533.51. Books - we have a small but steady income from sales. Purchased 6 tickets for helpers at Westmorland County Show. Money for Buttermere week has been sent. We will receive £400 from Area in October. Membership: 351 active members at end of June. Some lapsed members – no apparent reason Walks Programme Ria, together with Jill Hayes and John Fairhurst have completed the walks programme for Sept to Dec. John does not want to be on committee, but it is hoped that Jill will attend when her shifts permit. There was a discussion about future Walks Programmes and the desirability of having one of the walks programme organisers present at discussions. AGREED That we should try to take an active part in the Ramblers National walking festivals in Spring & Winter with appropriate walks featuring in future walks programmes. There were also suggestions for the inclusion of survey walks, special interest (of leaders) walks and other e.g family friendly walks in school holidays. AGREED to discuss suggestions with Jill and John PR A Ramblers national survey showed that young and special interest groups are the only ones increasing. Footpaths LDNP: Dave needs more people for surveys. DHo Footpaths Outside LDNP: Geoff Wilson, former employee of C.C.C. has added historical archive evidence to the claim previously made by Ernie for the 300 metre unmapped section joining three footpaths at Old Croft, Millholme. 2025 is the deadline for claiming all paths but there is little progress on this. Disappointingly few reports of footpath problems are received from Kendal members. AGREED to again draw members’ attention to paths in the next newsletter. ER Dales Way: Is to be re-signed. Kendal Ramblers might consider helping towards cost of signing in our Area. However it was suggested that Area should be approached regarding a contribution. Costs to be obtained passed to Area.
