Course nature and academic status This is a knowledge based course with a collection of useful information about die and mold making and manufacturing processes which uses die and mold as typical tooling. 2. Course aims (theory, ability and technique) The aim of the course is to provide a general understanding of the knowledge on die and mould making, typical manufacturing processes such as sheet metal stamping and injection molding(in which die and mold are widely used) and related topics such as rapid prototyping, reverse engineering and computer aided engineering to extend the use of die and mold technology. Requirements for courses; ability and knowledge in advance 1. Engineering materials 2. Mechanical engineering 3. Computer technology Course structure explanation: Make clear the necessary parts, optional parts, distribution of hours. Courses with experiments or practice are expected to explain hours needed, content, scheme and functions. 1. Class lecture -16 hours. Covering following topics: a) sheet metal stamping and injection molding processes and tooling; b)computer aided manufacturing technology; 2. UG software training- 32 hours Teaching methods (Lectures, practice, etc) Ppt lecture notes with a lot of video clips to help understand the course subjective issues and software training to help grasp typical CAD/CAM software commands. Forms of examination and requirements Structure of the final grade(including presence, class performance, ), focus of exam, forms of exam(test, interview, final report, etc) Open book examination( made up of questions related to the course topics) for class lecture, 70% of total grade; Software training, 30% of the total grade. Student 3 times missing the class lectures or software training will get dropped out the class.
